get a chain cutter. It pushes the pins out of a link and then you just need to use 2 master links.

they make chain breakers for that but you can use a grinder and a hammer and a punch to beat the pin out just make sure you take the right pin out and dont make it to short

remember you can always take another link out but you cant put one back in

I jsut grind off the end of the pins and it comes right apart. Takes about 5 minutes.

Chain breakers dont work wortha crap unless you have a one in a hydraulic press, lol. Some may work ok, but I've yet to find one. For field work I have a die grinder end that will replace the chuck on my cordless 18v drill. ;)

the chain breakers always work for me. Clamp it on, screw it and you got yourself a shorter chain.

The guy that said 2 master links is doing something wrong, if you take your link out right you should need only 1

a chain breaker would be nice but i always use a grinder & yes you should only need 1 masterlink Ive replaced several chains & shortened them for numerous gear changes but have only 1 masterlink

Chain breakers work fine. I have a $30 motion pro I can hold in my hand and I use my impact wrench. I can push the pin out of any chain in 10 seconds. You only need 1 masterlink.

you can shorten a stock chain or any chain you want but the stocker doesnt have a masterlink so youd have to buy one ,but there very cheap 3-5 $ probably ,Im gonna do another gear change before my next ride but hopefully I wont need to shorten it.
