No, but you can adjust the cam timing by retarding or advanceing the timing by advanceing it one tooth or retarding it one tooth, I wouldnt reccomend going any further.

No, they don't make one for the 300ex or 250x.

It advances the timing of the spark to spark sooner before the piston hits TDC for a more effective burn.

What you can do though is get an aftermarket CDI that advances the timing. It does the same thing.

You already have a Big Gun box.. so it's alreays got the spark advance I beleive.

Also, advancing the timing on the Cam does something completely different.

I'd tell you to do a quick search.. but cam is below the 4 letter minimum search value. :(

does advanceing the cam 1 tooth offer much benifit

It all depends.

It could make it better, it could make it worse. It all depends on your porting, cam, etc. Aftermarket cams are already adjusted so it should just make it worse.

Only way I could tell you to check is to put it on a dyno, switch it and rerun.

well how about on a stocker (all i have is a pipe and filter), i have heard about doing this to other bikes that had dohc and you would just advance the intake, im guessing though that this isnt something most people do on stock 300exs so i will probably leave mine alone

thanks guys, but how do you change the cam timing without the key?:scary:

The key doesn't change the cam timing. It changes the spark timing on the flywheel.

I have not messed with advancing or retarding my cam (I run an old FST MX cam), so I am no help sorry.

The best way to get an efficent intake and exhaust timing is to get the appropriate cam for the situation you want (all around, mx, drag, etc...)

Here's an article with pictures for the 400ex sparks timing advance key.

Bro, you already have a Big Gun rev box.

It already advances the ignition timing. You'd be doing the same thing twice.
