I have tried the 1200 degree stuff and the 1500 degree ceramic high temp paint and both of them bubbled and cracked after a couple of rides. I even baked on the ceramic stuff and it still didn't work. You would be better off having the header ceramic coated.

maybe it depends how well you clean the pipe off in the first place, because there is no way your pipe is getting as hot as wood stoves can...

my header was sanded well, cleaned with brake cleaner followed by paint thinner then painted with several coats of ceramic high temp paint and then baked at the recommended temp and still cracked and blistered after a couple months. The paint was even a good name brand(can't remember what now). I wouldn't waste my time on one again when I can send it out and have it sand blasted and ceramic coated rather than spend 2-3 hours on painting it and it still not hold up.

I painted the tips of mine because they were pretty chewed up with high temp chrome paint and mine hasnt bubbled or anything in almost 4 months of use.
