400 ex problems

i have a 2000 400ex that's ticking, its not my valves, or low oil level. what could it be?

If it does it a little on start up, I was told that was the compression release. Mine has done since it was new and it is a 99 model.

my 02 has always done that .now iv got 04 an it does it to i question it to an they say its naturel

Take out your timing chain tensioner.. It should sorta pop out and when you put it back in, there should be at least a 1/4" between the tensioner and head. If not, your timing chain is stretched which will cause a ticking sound in the motor.
