I was wondering how much time money and enjoyment would come out of making a hybrid

do you have to rig a lot of things

I was just wondering how hard and long it would take

it can cost alot depending on where you get the stuff from, your going to need

-custom brackets
-radiator
-motor
-wire harness for that motor
-carb for that motor
-custom oil tank (depends)

do you think I could do all of that stuff for under $5,000

because the mounts from walsh cost only $100

and the ktm 525 motor should cost somewhere around $2,000-3,000

but I don't know how much all that other stuff would cost

my advice is, if you're going to do a hybrid, do it right. Dont you an ex frame, use after market. The total build cost of a decent hybrid could be as low as $9,000 if done right

you might be able to do it for under 5 grand, but also remember, depending on the frame you use you might have to cut soem tubes and reweld them, also gussetting the frame is a must

do you plan on using your existing parts, or buy all new parts,or buying used parts. keep in mind a frame will cost 3g's, suspension almost 2g's, a-arms $1200, swingarm $600, axle $400, pro-pegs $200, radiator $300, spindles and such $500, wheels $500, we still aren't talking about the motor. about 3-4g's for the used bike, and figure in the sale of the bike frame and such $1200. its gonna cost you more than 9g's by the time you are done, ifyou are buying everything new, used yo might get it down to 6-7g's.the quad I own cost 27g's to build, I paid 9g's for it.

I would like to buy a rolling chassis and fix it up with the stuff I would need like shocks and a-arms and other stuff to fit me and my type of racing

I do plan on doing this when I am 16 or so

best bet would be a aftermarket framed 250r, Most of the chassis use 250r a-arms, swinger, suspension, steering stem, axle, carrier etc. then take it apart, remove the 250r motor, chain and electonics. Depending on what motor you want to use, the 250r frame might even work, then buy the dirtbike, sell the rest of the dirtbike minus the frame, carb and electronic. If yo have to sell the 250r frame and you still have all the rest of the parts,it will be way cheaper that way. selling the r frame and rest of the dirtbike will cover about 2g's of the cost.
