I have stock 400ex tires still on my 400 and im wanting some back holeshot standard 4ply tires- 20-11-9. My friend just got a pair on douglas .190 rims for a 300ex that he ordered in 20-11-9. I know these tires should be bigger width wise but when i compared them to my stock tire they are much higher tall wise as well... I actually put them next to my friends 300ex stock 22 inch tires and they are about as high as his!!! Is this normal? So what tires should i go for? Something smaller like stock or just get the holeshots? Would the slightly bigger tire affect in acceleration or top speed? thanks

it is possble that he has a lot ofair in them causing them to be larger, especially if he had them mounted at a tire place. the amount of air needed to set the beads is more than the usual running psi and they do not lower it back to that, usually.

a "taller" tire will slow have less acceleration, but higher top speed. a "shorter" tire will have better accelertion and less top speed. you most likely will not bea able to notice much of a difference as ther are tothr facts to consider, like tire weight, etc.

This tire was barley pumped up... just enough to be pumped but it was so easy to push down and you could tell just by looking at it it wasn't pumped up all the way... well I don't want to loose ANY or barley any of my acceleration and I dont mind gaining top speed but if its gunna take away from the acceleration then i don't want it. Has anyone else notice this when they got 20-11-9 tires and compared them to the stock tires?

The stock tires might say 22, but they are more like 21. The 1st number is supposed to be the height of the tire, but it is kind of like shoe sizes, in the ball park area. The best tire that you can get is a 20 in size. It is a good tire for all around riding.

do you think that tire will make me loose any acceleration? most people get 20 inch tires when they go aftermarket right?

You should gain acceleration. Not to mention a lot better traction.

most racers want acceleration...not top speed...and also a lot of them will use 18inch tires for the most acceleration with stock sized rims...if your gonna be racing a lot of tighter tracks you want the most accleration as possible, but if your gonna be doing some tight mx tracks and also some more open mx tracks then u may want 20inch tires...hope this helps

I mostly ride wood trails and open mx tracks so i think a 20 inch tire would be perfect... thanks
