I was under the impression that all years of Rs including the ATCs use the same rear brake caliper.

I tried to install my caliper on my quad and the portion where the hand brake cable goes hit the swingarm making it impossible to install.

Some say I am using an ATC rear caliper.

Does any one know if they are different from year to year?
And specially from ATC to TRX?

Help please!!!

they are the same, maybe you have to turn the carrier abit. I'd say get a parking brake block off, that will sove that problem. 85-89 250r use the same rear caliper, 85 uses different monting hardware, 86-89 uses the exact same stuff. does this caliper have 2 pistons???? 81 used drum brakes, 82 had its own rear brake, 83/84 used the same rear brake(also the same as all 200x's, and 350x).

spin the bearing carrier all the way out (like you were adjusting the chain) and try it again.

I thought of turning the carrier around to make it fit.

But wouldn't that someone limit the chain adjustment?
I mean, at some point when you adjust your chaing, it will hit again, won't it?

I did remove the parking brake block. That is not the problem. The problem is the portion of the caliper that accepts the brake block.

I think your suggestion makes lots of sense, so I will try that tonight.

Thanks guys

Ive found that if its not stock gearing you will lose a tad of adjustment in most cases, rotating the carrier is the best you can hope for. That , or link work

Baker250r-- yes I have heard of using the CRF caliper on the rear of the R. American Dream Motorsports (ADM) used to sell a caliper mounting bracket for this setup. I dont know if they do anymore though.

yea... i run that setup on mine... and so far i like it better than the stock caliper... for me the stocker tened to lock up more than anything... and this does a better job of slowin down, than lockin up

so 400EX brake stay and a front CRF450 caliper mounts up with no issues or mods required?
