Will a MOOSE UNIVERSAL HANDLEBAR CLAMP KIT work on a Houser stem? Houser's top clamp is a one piece, will removing this and adding a riser do any harm?

Yes, it should work. Just remove the top clamp on the stem and install them. There's many ways it can work but we don't have any info about your setup. Is the Houser stem 7/8" or 1 1/8"? Are you looking at Rox Risers? If so, what size is the bottom clamp, 7/8" or 1 1/8"?

Need more info on this. When you say "risers", do you mean actual risers like Rox risers or are you referring to the universal clamps?

yes, like the ROX risers. Moose makes a universal clamp/riser that will raise the bar 1 to 2 inches. I currently have a houser 1 1/8 clamp, not sure what you mean by "Is the Houser stem 7/8" or 1 1/8"?"...the Houser stem will except both the 7/8 or 1 1/8 clamp.

I am worried that if i remove the "dog bone" (top clamp) that I may lose some strength...thus causing some breakage.

I didn't know what size the clamp area on the stem was, it could have been 7/8" or 1 1/8". What size that is will dictate which Rox riser you need i.e. 7/8" stem clamp x 1 1/8" handlebar or 1 1/8" stem clamp x 1 1/8" handlebar. I'm just confused on how the universal clamp comes into the picture. You just need to match up the right riser with what your stem will accept. Even if, hypothetically you recieved the wrong one then a universal clamp would solve that problem. Otherwise, I don't see how it's needed. If you currently have a Houser 1 1/8" clamp and use 1 1/8" bars, then you need the 1 1/8" stem clamp x 1 1/8" handlebar.

Here is a pic of them. http://www.roxspeedfx.com/cart/pics/111990652375857.jpg

I just had a thought, are you needing the top half of the universal clamp since you will also be removing the top dog bone? Because I don't think you will have to remove it at all, thus solving your problem. The width of the clamp across is still the same as two separate clamps.

Thanks, I was looking at Rox and may go with them.
