There are no rules. Each engine is differant. Put it together noting which shims went where ( size wise). Then check your clearances. Then calculate if swaping them around will get you within spec.

6 thou inlet + or minus 1 thou
11 thou exhaust + or minus 1 thou.

If all else fails get a M/C mechanic to do it 4 you.

I do believe the intake shims are thinner. My intake shims were 1.50 I think my exhaust were around 2.25:confused:

I just checked my shims the other day and my intake shims were two different sizes. The one of the left was a 1.725 and the one on the right was a 1.70.

All the shims are always differnt well 99.9/10ths of the time) just pop all the shims in take your readings,do the math, add or subtract the number you need to get the proper clearences to the shim number, that will tell you what size shim you need right there,do that around the horn and youll know what shim went where

Does this make sence or is it just me:huh
