Hi guys,

I currently have the 400ex in my sig below. Looking for a little more now. Would you guys progressively go bigger to the 426 or just go right for the 440? Would a different cam work better than the Hotcam stg 2 I have right now? I have no rocker work...all stock.

I have a fst style extra oil cooler already plumbed in also so I'm not worried about the heat issues, and I already run a 50/50 mix of 91 and VP C-12. Can I go higher than an 11:1 compression and still use my 50/50 mix of premium and 110 leaded race gas?

I'm worried that the 440 will vibrate like crazy. My 416 already does, and also worried the 440 won't rev quick enough. Is that even true or just BS?

what kind of riding do u do? if u already have a 416 i would move up to the 440. your cam should work fine and i believe u can run a 12:1 compression with your gas mix. if u do go with the 440 make sure u get HD head studs. i would also consider port and polishing the head.

i would prefer the 426,i love mine!! doing a rebuild right now. a great machine, and when we go trail riding my 426 eats both my buddy's 440,s and on the track it does too. it's a sweet machine

I had a 426 and loved it. A good 426( cam , porting, carb, high compression) eat a 440 just for the simple fact that most people just slap in a piston and cam and go. You probably wont find too many people in your state that have a fully built 440, but a fully built 440 would eat the 426. Most people dont get the proper valve train mods needed to support a 440

If your gonna do it right go with the 440. You would be safe on your mix with a 12.5:1 piston.

As far as cams go I'm iking the megacycle x2 I have now. Quite the topend boost over my old wb1498. And still has plenty of bottom end.

Thanks guys,

I guess I did forget some details in my sig.

I do have a port and polish, and HD head studs. I only ride the dunes in Glamis.

Since my quad is a 1999, I still have the original rockers, valves and cam chain. I would probably update all of that as well.
