250r hood on 400ex plasitc info

First of all, yes, I have done a search for this

I need some info about mounting a 250r smooth hood on 400ex plastic. Its going on a stock 86 250r frame.

Do you cut the two front holes for the tank cover out. Or do you need to keep them?
I know that you have to cut out the tank cover for the R tank to fit into. But do I still need the front two holes on the tank cover?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
