quit a few z owners have run these engines another 1000 rpms with the stock valve springs. There are also a few who claimed they ended up with bent valves with 1000rpm + or higher rev box while running stock valve springs. I am not sure if they were running cams etc also. Running aftermarket cams & the rev box at a 1000 rpm or more I would strongly suggest drz or similiar valve springs to avoid motor failure. Then you better upgrade the cam chain also.

As far as wear.
Well its pretty simple far as wear. Take a motor that spins 5000 rpm vs an identical one that spins 7000 rpm. Its up to you to way out performance vs reliability. Most manufactures have to make the same choices, performance vs reliability.

true you want hi revs you should build the motor to handle it, and still you don't want to rip down the road wide open it just ain't good the extra revs could come in handy but just not for a long period of time
