I'm thinking of racing the GNCC series this year and i was considering doing the sport class. I've done some hare scrambles and just thought that might be something diffrent and fun. So give me some idea's on what you guys think about this and what should i ride??? Just throw some idea's at me. I'm 25 and 6 foot 175 pounds. I was thinking about the 300ex. That class just looks like fun for some reason!

For your size a warrior might be a little more suiting, but the 300ex is a great little quad. I'd reccomend tires, wheels, bars, and deffinately skid plates.

I always for get about the Warrior. I've never even rode one or worked on one either. Anybody have any know how on them? What about reliability?

A warrior is another BulletProf machine, My understanding is that the 300ex and the Yama both have around 18hp stock.

Now on a 300ex you can still bump your displacement another 50cc's if you feel like you need to. As where a warrior you cant. In the sport class 350cc is the max you can run.

As far as handling, the warrior is a bit longer than the 300 and for taller people they just feel a bit more comfortable.

But the 300ex are very fast woods bikes with the proper setups. Which are readily avalible. Those being +2 arms and +2/+3 swingers.

But if your gona run any sorta XC racing The very very first thing i recomend buying are skids and Tires. Then suspension products. Then work on your bar setups. A good bar setup can make a big diffrence!!!!

Just my 2cents, But i would run the honda!!!

But Steve Mitchell ran his Warrior and ended up with being the champ in the sport world.

yeah the sport class is just for the smaller displacement quads to be competitive

but yeah the 400ex can compete in A, B, C
Pro, Pro am, and age classes

except for the utilitie classes

I am with him I would get a 300ex and get skid plates and tires to begin with

then I would get shocks a-arms and a axle

for the engine I wouldlook into four stroke tech for like 330 displacement and then I would get a yoshimura pipe

then I would get a tank and a steering stem and handle bars

I would buy an old used 300ex because you would have to get some aftermarket parts for it anyways

I'll be out in the Sport Class as soon as I can get a 300ex. I'm looking to get one around the spring time. Hey, if not I'll bring out the Big Bear to the Ute Class. :p

Pappy ----the sport class seems like a kick *** class, everyone just seems like they have so much fun!

That's exactly what i thought, and with talks of moving it to the afternoon i would think they would start that class towards the front so that would make it even more fun i would think!

I think i'm gonna start looking for a decent 300EX and letting the modding begin. I'll do a pipe and maybe a diffrent airfilter. Then i'll see how that works out before i start doing any major motor work!

Tires, Skids, and Nerfs will be the first thing regardless!

Thanks for the advice!

the sport class is a blast, we all had a bunch of fun last year and we all got along great, even with a protest or two, there werent any hard feelings. there was also more than one race were the whole class races bumper, to nerf bar to bumper for the first few miles, they were great!

300EX is the way to go if your going to race that class.

bradley300
12-07-2005, 09:22 AM
i think its really close between the warrior, 300ex and blaster, performance is nearly equal between the 3, and i think it comes down to which one your comfy on. i did equally well on my 300ex as i did my blaster

gpd005
12-07-2005, 12:49 PM
I think i would just much rather have a 300ex than a blaster. They just feel really small when i'm one one. Now, to find one for sale at a decent price!

300EX is better built, more reliable. they haul *** too. look what wins at the GNC's. I know this is the GNCC's and everybody has an opinon but the 300ex is the best bet.

according to your sig, you have a 400, why dont you just race that in C or firstyear or something?

If I were you I would upgrade to a 450 instead of downgrading to 300. Your a pretty big guy, so no doubt about you fitting on a 450, but ride whatever your comfortable with. Personally, I like the feel of a 300 over a 450, but I'm only 5'5. Everyone I know has a great time in the sport class, and thats why I want to race it, but no matter what class you race you will have fun.

Not saying it can't be done but if your 6 foot why cram on a quad that is not built for a 6 foot tall person. If you like having your knees around your ears when riding then go for it.

yeah maybe if they move it to the morning it might start getting better turnout like the good ole days there use to be 20 to 25 quads every race, sometimes even more. Oh yeah don't forget that tether cord kill switch thats required for GNCC racing

I thought it was just a discussed change at this point, alog with a long list of other things

I don't think I have seen official rules changes released yet

12-12-2005, 01:32 PM
Its official now.... listed at the bottom of the page under the morning races, sport class the last on the list

bradley300
12-13-2005, 06:56 AM
i dont like it, but i'm gonna give it a try in the morning. they also moved the fast four stroke stock guys to the afternoon

parkers30
12-13-2005, 07:01 AM
saw that too, very cool, will really help grow the stock classes, and all the new racers wont have to drop 12k into their quad to feel competitive in the C class

gpd005
12-13-2005, 07:55 AM
I don't see the C classes listed anywhere on the schedule. I'm assuming they will still be in the morning race. According to that schedule it lists the sport class last. Do you think they will start them last??? If so i really don't see the point in that!

parkers30
12-13-2005, 08:22 AM
Novice is C, the sport class at worst would start right in front of First Year racer, I beleive the Morning rotates starts anyway

bradley300
12-13-2005, 09:40 AM
thats just a class list, it dosent have anything to do with actual start order. i would think we would start 3rd of 4th row

so anyone gonna give the class a try?

gpd005
12-13-2005, 09:41 AM
I still think i'm gonna give it a shot! I might be to big for a 300ex but i think it will be a new challange!

bradley300

just personal preference, if you've seen me at a race, you would kow that during the morning race, i'm still working on my quad, lol.

i just hope we get a good starting row, i think we deserve better than dead last in the morning

I think it will be better, because they will get a better starting row and won't get lapped by as many people. many beginers ride 300ex's etc, and dont know to move when the Pro and A class come through. it also allows the afternoon to really hold the "premir classes"
