Just bought my 450r and the clutch lever has been replaced with aftermarket that has no hot start lever.
I was wondering if it is worth having and how dose it work.
Is it a decompresion? the quad has a hi comp piston in it and is a nightmare to kick over.

if i recall...It leans the carb out and starts easier. I pretty sure that it is not a decompression valve... Not sure though... somebody else reply to this so I know also.. thanks

just bought a clutch lever with hot start made by works.
I hope it makes it start easier.

Hotstart jsut leans out the motor, it is very nice to have especially after stalling and trying to start it again when the motor is hot. That is the only time the hotstart should be used is when your engine is hot.

I use mine when hot or cold, and it fires on the first kick EVERY TIME! I do use the choke also when it's cold!;) If it is harder to kick over with the new piston than it was stock, you need to check your de-compression clearance!

If Im right you dont need a hot start on the lever be cause it is on the kill switch:eek2: that is unless you replaced the kill switch. but yeah it will make all the beast fire right up if u stall it instead of kicking it about 10 times. you need it.

Yes the factory kill is gone with the head lights. The clutch lever is an afftermarket unit simalar to cr250 perch and lever. It has a pro design tether as the kill.
Thanks for the info on the hot start.
I am sure the works conection perch and lever with hot start will work much better.
