Just relized that I have a cracked reed pedal, its a stock '96 cr reed, it looks like fiberglass.

I was checking out the boysen pro series carbonfiber reeds, are these the best replacements I can get for the cr reed cage?

Thanks

Hey man ...it seems to be a MUST to have a reed spacer installed on all the BIG engines ...my 350 went through 3 sets in one season of MX !!! i tryed them all fmf, pro series, carbon ..it didnt mater it killed them all ... i still dont understand why the break on the big engines maybe i never will  its been ok with the spacer who knows for how long

sounds like yur petals are smacking the inside of the intake on the jug. the reed spacer moves the reeds back allowing them to open farther withough hitting anything.

as for which type is better, carbon fiber on mid to top end setups, fiberglass on low to mid setups. ive had good luck with the v-force 3 reeds, durable as heck, good topend, did cut out a lil botom end power though.

stiff reeds dont open as easy at low rpm so they dont let as much fuel, air in.

soft reeds flutter and can splinter if ran at high rpm long enuf.

Okay so what size reed spacer?

I know that they come in different thickness, can someone chime in on what does what?

supposedly they help on bottom end power. the bigger the spacer the more volume u hav and the better it works for lowend power...

im not really a believer, and my bigbore has some massive porting so the reeds dont hit anything, so ive never used them.

i would say get the cheepest one u can.

Oh yeah, are the boysen pro series the way to go for replacement reeds?

Just bought a v-force reed cage from CT after talking to them they said that the v-force should not hit anything and it will make more power than the cr cage with carbon reeds.

I will let you all know if it works.
