The other day I saw a 400ex without the endcap/spark arrestor installed and I was wondering how many db's that would be. I am asking because I need a basepoint to compare aftermarket quiet pipes to. Thanks.

Im not sure how many decibels it is but it is no where as loud as any aftermarket pipe. Dosent sound good at all in my opinion.:rolleyes:

no it doesnt sound good i made a special end cap for mine it sounds like a two stroke.i never tested mine but with the end cap i put out maybe 95dbs.i kind of copyed white bros snuff ur not end cap.

Thanks. Do you guys think it at least more than 93 db's for sure? I want to get the FMF Q2 which is said to be 93 db's or lower but my dad said I can only get it if it is quieter than with no endcap.

It will prolly be about as equally loud but the aftermatket pipe will sound a LOT better.

its a lot quiter then aftermarket still. To get a reasonable idea take stock exhaust and cut it off after baffle.

u should jest make a muffler. i did and its loud and makes a very loud squeal sound some times.

here it is, i know it isnt the greatest endcap in the world because my stupid grinder is junk but it sounds twice as good as stock.

you might wanna grease your axle and carrier.....looks just a little rusty...

in the winter, i run without a spark arrestor, and think it sounds good in about mid 5th, but otherwise, it kind of sounds wierd.

what did u do just put a piece of diamond plate with holes in it over the end cap

u drill the holes out of the muffler and put bolts and lock nuts on, and yea i just drilled two holes out of diamond plate, i have a single hole one too.the double hole is louder than the single bye far. and my axle is not rusty it's just got alot of mud on it because i forgot to clean it off.
