Clutch Lever play

I think there is something wrong with the amount of play there is. The lever plays a little without pulling the cable. Then if I pull it a little farther it plays a little while pulling the cable but not engaging the clutch.(When I pull it the arm above the clutch moves but doesnt engage the clutch) Then if I pull the lever all the way it engages/disengages. Is this normal. Sorry if this post is confusing.

Its hard to explain.
There is the normal 'freeplay' that a clutch lever has. But then there is different freeplay when you pull the lever a little farther, during with the clutch lever actually pulls the cable but isnt engaging the clutch at all. Then if I pull it farther it finally engages/disengages the actual clutch. Basically, I have to pull the lever in 1/2 way for it to do anyting, and Im wondering if that is normal.

P.S.- If it matters, the clutch was slipping a couple months ago and I had it serviced at the local Honda dealer.
