Which 400ex you like.

So what year and style 400ex everyone like, only reason i'm posting this is cause i got a 04' 400 and i don't like the new 05' and 06' models as much. I mainly don't like it cause the front end looks to much like the 450r. Its not bad but i like old style so thats my vote. Vote everyone and post if you got any other opinons or anything else to say.

who cares.... and whoever says lack of reverse makes it better is smokin crack, why would it make it worse?? i havnt figured this out yet... i agree it should have its own body style but also, who cares, still looks good, still is gona last if its taken care of, and still bulletproof... i figured ppl where done bashing the 05 a few months ago, but aparently its back and now we will start hearing reverse is for pu**ys again and other bs

Woods is all i ride. I ride with a guy thats got an 05 and whenever he has 2 back up he gets off and pushes it. says its geared wrong it wants 2 go 20mph backing up. im used 2 not havin reverse so its good 2 me.

Well i can say this about the 05 and 06's there still 400ex's.... there still a HONDA.. i just like the 04s better. nuthin aginst the 05 and 06 i just like the older 1 better... and i would take a 05 or 06 400ex over a z-400 anyday just cause im a honda fan.

I like the old style better. I dont see why honda would give it the same style as a 450r. I like the idea of every 4 wheeler havin a different look to them.

I do ride trails a lot and i got an 04', and i can come to tight spots and usually whip it around or find an easy way without having to get off to push. In some cases yes i would like reverse but i don't regret gettin the 04' model at all.

mine dosen't do 20 mph in reverse so i don't no was hes smoking he jus needs to not press the gas down so hard that how you control it

Well im just sayin what he told me. He rides with us and evertime he has 2 back up he pushes it unless hes in the wide open. and he can ride fine. i never ment it actually went 20 in reverse i was just sayin it goes 2 fast in reverse. I like my 04 better than the 05. I dont like how they tryed to make it look like a 450r in the front.

i have a 2005 400ex but i like the olders ones better i just rid eof a 2003 and the revers i never use if you good you dnt need revese and i have been racing gncc for 4 years never used it

2003 is the best model for a 400ex they worked out all the bugs of the 2000 and there weren't many to begin with they really just improved on perfection.

i also think that every quad deserves their own look. i think that they could have done something new to the the 05 400 to make it a little different from 99 to 04 but i think they made a mistake in making it look like the 450. honda is just like yamaha now, they are basing everything on the r just like yamaha makes everything look like a raptor.

and everybody knows raptors blow. I have to be one of the first to disagree with the majority. I have a 2000 and want to switch the plastics to the 05 or 06. minus the headlights. I just think the new front ends look bad ***. A black quad with a yellow frame would look hard core.

I do it aint that hard you just got to have some muscle on your legs to put them on the front wheels and push them down or get off the quad and pull it back or just dont make mistakes

ya i race xc on my 03 ex and i do just fine
my last race i got 2nd and smoked two 05s
they kept bouncing off trees.. and guess wut. reverse didnt do a thing b/c the trees were so tight they just ended up gettin stuck even worse

Al you guys are just jealous that honda came out with a better looking and more capable 400. The new styling is way better, the bug eyes on old skools look hideous. I alwayz use my reverse and those of you who say it goes 100mph backwerdz dont know how to use clutch. Getting off and pushing and pullin around when u get stuck sumwhere gets old.

I like my styling of the 06'. And the reverse does come in handy to back out of my garage. I just dont like the huge @ss headlights of the old school. Maybe they could have done something different with the new style though. My 06 is just fine for me. And reverse is governed way down.

I don't care the difference in the gearing and reverse and all that, but i think they coulda made it look something more different than before maybe and different than the 450R.
