I have a garage, its a single car it has no insulation or anything, could I put say a space heater in it while I'm in there without it getting to hot?

reason I am asking is because I have to redo a couple harleys in it and its pretty nipply in there, I dont want to put insulation in it because this house is rented so I'm not wasting my money..

i know the PERFECT thing

my room gets really cold in the winter cuz its real far away from the heating unit so it doesnt get heated efficiently, so my dad bought me this heater at sams club, made by Lasko. You can set it to run non-stop, you can set it to run form 1-9 hours and it will cut off on its own, and you can set the thermostat on it and it will heat the room up to the temperature you set, and it will keep the room at that temperature. it works GREAT! i highly recommend it. Plus, it draws in air from the bottom so you can push it right up against a wall with no probs

i keep mine set on about 70, but it can go alot higher if you want it warmer.

I have a kerosine heater for the garage, but with the price of kerosine, it can get expensive.

yea i have a kerosine heater but you will not be able to get it very warm with insulation. also, if you open the garage door for a minute, all of your heat is gone:mad:

propane/electric that blow fire. here's what you do...walk over and plug the thing in. turn the gas gauge on. wait 10 seconds and start chuckling. walk away and get the hose. come back after about 45 seconds and hit the light button and you will be needing these

I have a "reddy heater", its a long red tube that uses kerosene. The only thing is taht you need to open the windows when you use it, but it puts out enough heat to warm a garage even with windows open.

I have one of these for my quad garage. It gets it pretty warm but the heat leaves pretty quick after you shut it off.

with no insulation its gunna be expensive any way you go, i suggest a "salamander" type that runs on propane. cleaner than most fuels, just run a copper line out to a 100# cylinder OUTSIDE. no smelly kerosene fumes to deal with. jmo

this is my problem to.we have been using a propane hearter, i think its called mr heat and we have no insulation.the only way it is going to stay heatedis with insulation and with anything propane, kerosene, or electric after awhile it would just be cheaper to insulate it.shouldint be that much.next pay check im buying it.

whenever we are workin in un-insulated shops in the winter we first partition of an area, we hang clear plastic from the ceilings to the ground and then heat inside of there the heat stays in a little better and the plastic is super cheap you can get big rolls of it at tsc. as for heaters we usually use bullet heaters.

What if you have a 3 door garage with a metal roof and metal sides with wooden doors, and you put a heater inside the garage to heat up a quad and two dirbikes? Would it be way to dangerous? Because i might have to clean it in the winter. The other reason I would want it is so that my engine doesn't get so cold in the really cold nights and it so it doesn't take for ever to warm up?

How would you keep a quads engine warm, without a heater if there is even a way to do that.

omg dont get so complicated with all these kerosene/propane heaters and such. you dont need all that. just get the simple electric plug in heater from walmart for $70 like i suggested. You dont have to buy propane tanks and such, and it will keep the room at whatever temperature you set it at.

go to your local autoparts store and buy a block heater... you can get ones that are a magnet and you just stick it somewhere on the motor... my buddy bought one for his jeep in the winters and he just sticks it on teh oil pan and plugs it in.

To get around those Kerosine smells, when I light it, I usually have the garage open, that way it lets all the strongest smells out anyways, after that it usually doesn't smell bad at all.

that probably wont do squat in a uninsulated garage. we use a kerosene torpedo type heater as well. usually i just put it next to whatever im working on and its warm enough... when it was like 15 degree's out i was working out in the garage in a beater. usually i hang some tarps up to hold in some of the heat.

Heat lights would work pretty well, just put them over top of where you are working and they warm you up pretty good and provide light. I'd suggest putting the plastic up on the walls if there is nothing but studs and outter wall.
