hard pack would be turf tamers, mxr4s, or the new sx.

you are going to get a bunch of different opinions on this. It's almost the same as asking which exhaust is the best......

Klaws are good and less expensive
a lot of people like the razrs
a lot like the holeshots but they do wear faster than the other 2 but hook up better I would not use these in any type of wood if you are using them 99% mx then get them..

I really like the Holeshot MXR fronts and the MXR4 rears but they do wear pretty fast. I've had good luck with Kenda Klaws too, in my opinion they are pretty close to Holeshots performance wise and they last longer. Usually I run 8-10 psi in the rear and 10-12 psi in the front.

Im a huge Maxxis fan.. but I will go against my normal reccomendations here.

For both areas your looking for.. I'd reccomend the Kenda Klaws for a couple reasons.
Great tire like the rest, but unlike most MX tires.. there's enough space between the lugs to throw off mud instead of slicking over on the trails.

They are all great tires.. but I think the Klaws will be your best dual purpose tire. They'll work "ok" in the sand in a pinch too. ;)

Most folks like to run ~5psi as a standard. +/- depending on the daily conditions.
