250R stators

i have a friend thats stator went out and he needs a new one but has no money. i was wondering if '86 to the year '89 250Rs all have the same stator or does it need to be that same year. he has an 88 but i was wondering if all the stators are the same?? can i put any one of these year 250R stators in to his?

No, they have different plugs. I believe 86-87 are the same, 88 is different and 89 also different. If you splice the wires together by cutting off plugs it will work. Hope this helps.:confused:

so the '86 and the '87 are the same but diffrent from the '88 and the '89, but the '88 and the '89 are the same.??:confused:
