Well I was planning on getting a full set of burgard beadlocks, then have the rings P/C'ed. I plan on racing MX next season, and some trail riding. After watching Huevos 6 I was noticing that most of the people racing weren't running beadlocks in the front. I really like how beadlock look, but I'm thinking maybe I should just save some money and get Douglas .190 front rims. So whats ya'lls oppinion on front beadlocks?

I AM NOT YET CONVINCED ON THE BEADLOCK SYSTEMS, I KNOW THEY WORK, BUT HAVE YOU EVER TRIED GETTING AN ATV TIRE BEAD OFF. NOT EASY. I AM SURE IT HAPPENS, BUT HOW OFTEN. HAVE YOU SEEN IT HAPPEN, I HAVE NOT SEEN IT WITH THE LOWER PROFILE SPORT ATV TIRES. JUST MY OPINION, BUT I WOULD RATHER KEEP ALL THE MONEY AND TAKE A CHANCE OF BREAKING A BEAD OFF DURING A RACE. BUT I DONT RACE FOR MONEY OR ANYTHING. LETS HEAR THE PROS AND CONS.

fronts are not needed in MX IMO.

SO ITS JUST HAPPENING ON THE REARS?

in mx, and tt, the majority of tire roll is on the rear. you get a quad spinning hard on the gas and hook a rut and ive seen the tire literally fly off the rim. even with beadlocks ive seen the bead ripped off the tire!

in xc, fronts and rears tend to get flats and the rider does not tend to let off. square rim or not a racer will keep hammering to his pit. beadlocks keep the tire on the rim (hiper rear dual beadlocks are the preferable rim of choice for extremes)

I agree with pappy, you dont need them on the front, but if your making monster HP you def need them on the rear, Ive seen those low profile tires fly off the rim under hard acceleration also.

i would say if ur racing mx at least get a rolled edge wheel for the front, like the stock wheels. the .190 are junk imo they bend too easy.

yea i agree with 450r51, get some rolled edge rims, alot stronger than .190s but less money than the beadlock which isnt really necessary

Tomorow I'm gonna order the beadlock rears, and .190 fronts, the .190's might not be as strong, but the price is good. And I'm going to just start getting into MX in the spring, so I won't beating on the quad too much. Thanks for the help.

if you happen to bump and grind with people as much on the track as I do you will want rolled edge up front no questions asked. I have hit people hard enough that I have ruined a few rolled edge fronts and now I use beadlocks mainly for strength. If you ruin a couple of those .190 wheels and then get bead locks you would saved you're self money buy just getting them the first time.

I'm getting them from Pappy, he sells burgard stuff, and he can powdercoat the rings, and in the long run it will save me time and money because I won't have to ship out the rings and wait for them to get back.

Beadlocks are only truly needed in the rear ive seen people just land funny boom tire blows off the bead and they dont have beadlocks. I Have Douglas Yellow Label rear beadlcoks and Douglas Yellow Label front 4:1 offset rims

my front some times loose all the air when i land hard and my 190s are all dinged up on the eges and a couple days ago i bent my back rims side ways and now they dont hold air. and my front 190s r bent side ways 2

I don't understand a word you said.:huh

I won't have a race quad without beadlocks anymore. I've blown tires off the beads front and rear even when running pressures in the 8-9 range. Hipers are the tops if you can afford them.
