throw some aftermarket rims and tires on there. although it would be expensive, beadlocks on the back would look awesome.

Looking good. I am glad to see that you got those diamond plated radiator shrouds off. As for motor it kinda depends what you ride most of the time and personal preference. I run a CT Racing 330 kit and love it but i race desert and there is not a limit on the size of the motor. If you plan to race mx i would go with a Sparks 265.

slamdak8782
12-02-2005, 07:48 AM
how does your 330 compare to the 265. Macdizzy is getting like 50 horse out of the 250 bore engine and I wondered what your thoughts are on this?

tater_kamik
12-02-2005, 05:40 PM
tom, is that yellow paint on the rear end? i know you didnt do that, but clean that up! definately some new wheels, and an axle. and pc some of the smaller parts. other than that, im still gonna stomp you when i get back:p oh, and the other thread has been fixed, but it was still funny:D

slamdak8782
12-02-2005, 05:49 PM
yes its yellow because of the overspray on the old R I had me being lazy I guess. I didnt want to work so I cleaned it up and painted it on the quad hahaha anyways it will come off reall easy with some paint thinner. Oh and to you whooping me with that raptor you better bring your qame because this bich hauls some serious as s
Mine will always look better no matter what and good luck on the rough stuff because daddy has some new toys hehehe:D :D :D :D

looks good! but you know you HAVE to get some pc on it, or else im gonna rag on you until you do get a bunch of stuff pc'd to match the arms:D you still cant handle the rappie. cant wait to go riding though!

fugitivracing65
12-06-2005, 10:49 PM
I love my 330 that is with out a doubt. The only reason that i would tell you to go with the 265 is becuase in most WORCS races that i try and race when i get the time. If you have a two stroke 265 or under like a stock 250 you can run with the 450's and we know that just about hands down the R would beat anything new on power to weight. However with my 330 I have to run the open class. Just to make it clear i only have the 330 i dont have a 265 so i cant compare it exactly i have ridden the 265 and hands down i would choose the 330. It just depends what u want to do.

well I have all the suspension on. I just got done putting an entire kit of stainless bolts on there. Boy am I glad that is over with. Well I'll be posting pics. I found some crazy stuff on there. Safety issues really.
1. Just a bolt and washer for the sprocket :eek2:
2. wrong size bolts in the exhaust flange.
Does any one have a 39mm airstryker or equivalent flatside for sale?

New Parts to install
1. ECA master cylinder guard
2. exhuast billet muffler clamp
3. Stainless Kit ( little bit mad because it didnt have the bolts for the intake:mad:

JD performance a-arms review
overall great product. I dont like the nylock nuts they include though. Those things are horrible to get on there. Also be prepared to try and make the bottom shock bolts fit because they dont and they are not included  That was my greatest anger about the kit after paying the coin for those arms.

Mean250r
12-17-2005, 07:56 AM
i have seen JD performance a arms once and the looked nice

but yours look so hot with the elkas. your front end looks nice. what kind of elkas are they and what length are the A arms?

tater_kamik
12-17-2005, 09:24 AM
glad you caught those things before you went riding and something happened! have you taken her out yet?

slamdak8782
12-17-2005, 12:28 PM
Found 2 more problems
1. Rear shock needs a rebuild
2. Gear oil bolt is stripped and leaked oil all over the place out of the engine but I will have it fixed today.

I am very glad I found those problems as well tater

Now on to mean 250r. The arms are plus 2 and the PC was included in the price. They were 760 total. I highly recomend these and they are also fully castor camber and toe adjustable. Now if I could figure out how to set it up:D That is the fun of it though

slamdak8782
12-18-2005, 12:06 AM
I want to very soon, but I dont want to rush. I really need to decide on an engine combo and carb. I cant decide what carb to go to Im thinking the 39mm air striker or 38 pwm but I cant decide. I have a motion pro twist throttle but I cant find it anywhere. I bought it last year now I cant find the dang thing. But soon I'll be riding it. New pics coming real soon.

tater_kamik
12-18-2005, 12:20 PM
just as long as you are finished when i get back, less than 2 months! if ya cant find it, just go get another one, they are less than 50 bucks, screw it. who is gonna do your rer shock? or even better yet, get a new one to match your front end:D you know you are made out of money tom:p

slamdak8782
12-19-2005, 10:26 AM

Aren't they beautiful

250rider1
12-20-2005, 02:01 PM
that is one bad r. if you dont mind me asking. how much did that cost to build and how long did it take you. im thinkin about building mine next winter and i need some ideas.

slamdak8782
12-20-2005, 02:16 PM
Well so far and I know people are going to call bullcrap on this one but my build is at about 4600 and I hope to be done at 5000
compare that to the new Rs. I bought mine for 1500 from Rob Arnold of Ohio at addy polaris. He he he. Them polaris guys dont like hondas. Any ways 5000 is the total plus the cost of the bike and all the goodies I have bought as of late. Keep in mind I have done all the work and I have really had to rely on this site when I couldnt find parts. All in all I love this site. I love all quads and it is so cool to be on here with so many people who love the sport. Sorry to ramle but bout 5g when Im done

01-06-2006, 11:21 PM
What color scheme are you going to use for the PC?? also where'd you get those air scoops, I love them!

Great looking R, I'm extremly jealous:mad:

slamdak8782
01-07-2006, 12:05 AM
the Frame was already pced but Im still not sure if it will stay that way. I might go to like a black pearl color with some metal flake in it on the frame everything as far as accents go will be candy apple red. The scoops are made by a company RTC racing they are on the net and they are very nice. I first saw them on a z400 and hadd to have them. They run about 150 if you get the louvers and bout 90 without them. I recomend the product highly. As far as his levers go. They are a good Idea but mine doesnt hit the brake master cylinder where it should

01-07-2006, 07:32 AM
wow i read the entire thread ur r went to heaven and back sweet job money well spent i think ..but do u think so...once again great job now all u gotta do is take some pix of u ridin the thing ha peace

slamdak8782
01-07-2006, 04:59 PM
Thanks for the props gumby. She is close but there is still more to come. I went out to finish the braking and lubrication issues on this piece today. She got a set of new pads all around and I also zip tied the hyd. clutch in so it wouldnt move. I took the PWK out and found the following.
1. 168 main jet
2. 60 pilot
3. 38 for the float jet
4. DGH needle
How does that sound to you guys. She is only 20 over. Seems a little fat but still way better than the stock carb. After all of that I went through and greased all ball joints and grease fittings

slamdak8782
01-12-2006, 05:23 PM
Well today I got my but kicked by the legend and let me tell you Roll Design footpegs to the back hurt real bad. I put a twist on their and I cant get used to it. Im thinking of switching back. Does anybody have input on the twist throttle. For woods or even big jumps it is fine but in the whoops I cant keep from moving around and getting the R out of whack with the touchy twist throttle. Can it be done or should I switch back. For drags or just play riding Im fine but on the motocross track it really scares me. This R is really too fast now and I definetly respect it a lot more. The PWK made me probably twice as fast as before and the powerband is scary fast. I can honestly say I am a little bit scared now. That has never happened before but dang this thing is fast.

gunslinger
01-12-2006, 06:29 PM
nice build,,,,what motor mods did you do ,seen the pic's of the top end did you get it or still same motor??:eek2:

slamdak8782
01-12-2006, 06:47 PM
Right now Im using a 20 over top end but it is very peaky and I think the powerband is kind of dangerous for me. Especially in tight trails or through whoops especially in combination with the twist throttle. I think Im going to switch back. The pipe is a beat up LRD and it is going away soon in favor of a more reliable FMF fatty. The top end isnt done yet Im waiting for PSI to machine the DIAl a dome head but it should have better top end and a more stable powerband. It i a shame hondas didnt have a powervalve. I would really like to see what this combination I have now dynos at. It is a lot faster than my built 440ex. Really there is no comparison an I feel that it will be faster than a HRC450r because I was right there before with the stock carb and with this carb the bike is so much more explosive. I was right beside a 310r in the drags last weekend and after changing to a CEL needle I think It will pull the 310. There was a z400 there too and he was really getting beat up on.

tater_kamik
01-16-2006, 10:07 AM
i hear the same thing constantly about the whoops and twist throttles. give it some more time tom. how did ya wreck? i take it you were racing at 89 for the whoops and the drags. hey, im gonna be back before the end of the month, should have my rappe back pretty soon after that, but i think i have to do some work to it. my dad said that the "middle" light is blinking after 15 minutes or so and the fan isnt kicking on and the radiator is only getting luke warm. he doesnt have any data on it and i dont have anything with me to tell him so... be ready to go get a few brews and a couple of wrenches! :D

tater_kamik
01-16-2006, 10:08 AM
oh yeah, i forgot. im gonna smoke you! lol

slamdak8782
06-18-2006, 09:33 AM
well I thought I would write a little to see how everyone is doing. The R has been at my home in Ohio and I havent seen it in 4 months. Getting married and trips to Iraq can do that to you. The PSI GENESIS is waiting on me back home as well as my beautiful future wife. She is coming down to Little Rock with. I can't say enough for her she is beautiful and by far the best thing to come my way in a long time. No plans to sell the quads (440ex and 250r) but the day may come. Cant say I'll ever sell the R though. It has been my dream quad since I first laid eyes on it. It used to be my friends dream too until the 450's came out. Oh well I can see the jealousy in their eyes when I pull her out and spank them. And even if I don't win I still look better on it.:D Well the R will soon be back in my garage and it about time for the plus 2 axle and the 67 HP powervalve. Sweet! More pics soon to follow. Keep watching I'll show you how too make 450's cry lol. I love to stir the pot. Grandaddy honda still has a few tricks left

tater_kamik
06-18-2006, 07:53 PM
yeah yeah yeah tom, go get married you. either way, i will still smoke ya. of course that is after you pull start me...

slamdak8782
01-27-2010, 09:31 PM
Ok So I got married it takes a lot of work and I had a kid. Anyways I'm back. The R is getting a stock type hood with the headlight. If I can find one. New plastics without the hairlines and the stock decals are coming back. Also the 330 got sold because 20 over was fast enough.... damn im getting old. Anyways, heres to old and new friends. R's never die they just get better!!!!

01-27-2010, 09:48 PM
awesome can't wait to see pics

tater_kamik
01-28-2010, 07:00 AM
Tom, there is no thing as fast enough. I take it you are going back to a stockish look? Personally I would stick with the hood you have and throw on trailtech lighting. And yes you are getting old.

On a side note: you had to wait till I moved away to start working on it??

slamdak8782
01-28-2010, 12:07 PM
I cant wait to start workin on her again looking for a headlight right now. I think the stock look is cool. Im going to rebuild a white 86 or 87 after this one is done with a stock parts and try to see how good I can make it with port work and such maybe a new pipe. I figure one for all out and one for trails. Tate do you have a facebook account im on there look me up.

tater_kamik
01-29-2010, 07:52 AM
True, a clean stockish 250r would be nice to see. Especially since not only are there few of them out there, there are fewer well maintained or restored ones. What are you thinking about doing to the next one? No, I dont have a facebook account but I suppose I am going to have to breakdown and make one since that is an inevitable question I get asked. Apparently exchanging facebook accounts is much like exchanging business cards or phone numbers used to be.

are you gettin the adjustable dome also? those motors were fast back in the day... when they would keep running... thats a PSI RIght?

slamdak8782
01-29-2010, 11:29 AM
I sold the PSI because I realized that I really didn't need that kind of power. Plus I needed the money. I have decided to probably just run a different dome on the stock cylinder. Probably a cool head because they look nice and a re functional. With the addition of the Air Stryker carb I didnt feel it was necessary anymore. That is an amazing carb.

slamdak8782
01-29-2010, 11:33 AM
I had the adjustable dome too but its gone now. I think Im going to go with an ESR if I ever do it again. For now the stocker stays. with the Air stryker. Tate get a facebook its fun to be able and talk to all your friends. Think of it as a meeting place for people to share ideas it cool. Almodova has one.

tater_kamik
01-29-2010, 11:46 AM
Im sure I will eventually but I have been a tad busy with a project bike and have not had the time. I cannot believe you said this, "I really didn't need that kind of power."
