Ceramic coating keeps the heat down, does not blue, and looks very good.

the ceramics rust?
Also what if you got the stainless then ceramic coated it, would that fix the rust problem?

i hear sparks now makes stainless pipes that are ceramic coated. maybe this is incorrect info or maybe it is for a different bike, like the 450r??? i would call someone and find that info out. i say, no questions asked, make sure you get a stainless pipe. my buddy had one of their ceramic coated ones (that are not stainless) and it rusts like a mofo over time. i would get the stainless pipe and have it coated by www.swaintech.com

some people also like HPC for thermal coatings.

the stainless pipes are a bronze color. the ceramic coated ones are a silver color, so the ceramic ones do look better. the swaintech coating is not all the best looking. it is a thick coating that is rough in texture. it comes in a pearl white color and you take high temp paint and paint it the color of your choice. i liked the flat black myself. i believe HPC will coat your pipe in black or silver. this coating will be thinner and will probably not be as durable as the swain tech coating. i have a feeling the swaintech coating will also keep the heat in the pipe better too as it is a true ceramic, thus the pearl white color. however, the HPC may look better / more fancy.

The regular ceramic pipes are mild steel.

A ceramic coated stainless pipe would be the hot setup. It would last a lot longer and not turn colors like stainless does when its bare.

I'm not sure if they put a stainless core in the stainless pipes. But I took my ceramic pipe apart yesterday and surprisingly the core and packing was still in pretty good shape, especially for being a year and a half old.
