what type gage/thickness steel for GUSSITING?

I have two 400ex frames that I am making gussits for then taking to my welder to install, one frame is FOR SALE

1/8" 4130 chromoly.

I think it is .120 wall thickness.

Walsh makes a really nice gusset kit, $200.00 Strong though.


I am getting ready to do this to my frame also. :D

No Problem, Good luck with the Frame.

Oh one more thing, you may want to have it sand blasted before the gusseting, it will make it a lot easier on the welder. Just be sure to keep it away from moisture until you can have it coated, or it will start to rust.

I used 1/8 inch steel for the gussets on my 250r. I also made the gussets myself, it takes a little time, but they fit just as good as a set that would have cost me over 100 dollars.
