2 years ago I was asking the same question. I got an 02 300ex and love it. The warrior is supposed to have alittle bit more top end speed but they handle like a tank. When I bought my 300 it came jetted, piped and with a k&n. I have 20' rear tires on it and the 01 raptor rear shock on it now and it is awsome. However I would love to have a 05 400ex now. I bought my 300 over the 400ex because on the revere. I do alot of tight trail riding so you need reverse. Here i what my 300 look like.

300ex motors are bullet proof. They are damn near impossible to wear out in their stock form. I dont know anyone who's blown a stock 300ex motor (that isn't a total moron). Not saying it cant happen, but it's definatly not the norm for a 300ex motor to go bad. My 1998 300/330ex has been to hell and back about 50 times.. lol.

I've been beating the hell out of it for 7-1/2 years. It's been raced, wrecked, drowned in 10ft of water (many times), duning, mudding, snow, name it.. it's been done to it. Hell drown the thing, drain the air box, put it up on its haunches, empty the pipe, put it down start it up and go again.

Trust me the 300ex motor last a LONG time, lol. All the 250x's out there have the same motor in them, most (up to 17 years old), have never even had the engine freshened up.

The warrior is also a great quad. IMHO you cant go wrong with a Warrior, 300ex, or Blaster for a reliable sport quad.

my '97 300ex motor has outlasted a few newer warrior motors, with much harhser treatment than what they have gotten...hon is #1 in reliabilty

go with the 300ex i ride mine almost every day and i beat it to hell and nothing has broke on it. the only thing is the rear axle bearings witch go about every 6 months.

and plus wariors dont last very long i ride with a few people who have them and the are allways brakeing. also if u like to do wheelies the wariors cant wheelie worth a s***

12-06-2005, 02:42 PM
the bearings on the 300ex do not wear every six months unless there is a problem somewhere else...i had mine for nine years and only replace the bearings 3 times in the last 3 years...why did i replace them so often...the runout on the axle was below spec allowing the axle to wobble in the bearings, thus wearing them prematurely...

exrider008, sheck your axle for straightness and runout

i rode a warrior and the gearing is all screwed up, 1st and 2nd are to low and 3rd is to long, 4th is very powerless, and up is just you never use them, unless your drag racing, if your in the woods, you wont' hit 4th without plowing a tree cuz they don't turn.

12-07-2005, 06:07 AM
the first 2 replacements were oem hondas, with the second set coming in a new carrier...the third was just put in about a month ago and only had one ride on them before i sold the bike

True dat, i have had my 95 for 3 years and i have been kicking the living **** out of it and its still taking on other worriors all the time! Worriors might have an extra gear but when you have Honda there is nothing that can stop you!

i know what a yamaha warrior is, but who makes a worrior? spelling is a good thing...i can understand some typos, but the same typo over and over again is not a typo...

I've rode both. I like the rappy 350 a lot better than warriors. All of them are great trail rides, though. So go with which brand you like the most. In my case that is Yamaha. But there is nothing wrong with a Honda. Both of these motors are bullet proof and time tested. Just be sure if you're buying a used one that it has not been abused or it'll be a headache.

Ha Ha, if that is how you feel, why consider a Yamaha to begin with? I'm partial to Yamahas but honestly none of them are really "the best". They are all different and how good they are often depends on how well they are taken care of and what they are used for. I hope you like what you get and hope it lasts you forever.

300ex. the warrior is way to heavy in the front, and makes it not as fun.

sorry I'm off topic but,

Since you said how bullet proof 300ex's are do you think 250ex's are just as bullet proof? Do you think the motors are hard to blow, and can they take just as much abuse?

just curious, since you brought that up.

I have owned my warrior for a year now and The only THing I have on my warrior is bandit tires, hmf exhaust barnett dirt digger clutch, and uni air filter. My buddy has a 300ex with pretty much the same mods only diffrent tires (Razr) and different air filter (K&N) and he is jealous. My warrior just smokes it all the time anywhere any day. The warrior only weighs 18 pounds more than a 300exs stock and The 60cc more than the 300ex makes up for it because the stock 300ex motor is only 288cc. The warrior is also very durable mine has been flipped used and abused and still kickin like new. I would race a 300ex anywhere any day it s just fun and thats what its all about. In conclusion those warriors are very tough machines and are much better built in my opinion. So a warrior would be my choice but thats just me. I know there are a lot of hard core honda lovers out there but its your choice.

i don't get where you guys are saying 300ex's are more durable than warriors. i've never seen a warrior that was blown up from hard riding. only ones i've seen blown up were from people that didn't know how to shift lol

seriously you could drop a warrior in a 30 foot lake, leave it there for a week. and it start up the first time you press the start button. seriously i'd take a warrior over a 300 anyday. well if i was planning on racing i might take a 300 but that's only because they have more parts available. and the warrior has bad geometry for racing but for trails it's amazing
