06 Parts On 04

Hey i have a 04 YFZ and was wondering if the 06 brakes will bolt up? Thanks

The front will but there's not a chance the rear will.

Hmm i know they changed the rear end, but was wondering if the brakets where in the same spot.

ho, and the axle is bigger so you would need a complete 06 rear end. nothing fits.

What do you mean the disc is changed? Is it bigger or what. Cant i just bolt it to my hub?

no it wont bolt on cause i bent mine and my local dealer sold me a 05 disc and it doesnt fit: the hub isnt the same size because of the axle that is thicker and the overall size of the disc is smaller.
So I had to take it back and order a 06 disc.

Ear me now: Nothing ,nothing will fit on the rear end,and I mean nothing cause its a whole new rear end they gave the 06YFZ.

Carl, you're not 100% accurate. I just put an '06 swing arm in an '04. The Axle will fit. The only difference between '04-'05 and '06, is the size of the wheel nut and the axle itself is a little bigger diameter at the wheel end, but this has no effect on it fitting. The sprocket hub and sprocket are the same. The rear rotor is the same outside diameter, but the hole pattern is slightly different, and you do need a new hub (the offset is different)
And to answer metals question....... Carl is correct about the brakes. the mounting holes in the caliper are way different. However, if you already have an aftermarket round house swing-arm, it would be easy to make a new caliper plate, so all you would need is the '06 caliper, rotor, and brake hub.

yep you're gonna need the disc hub(that's the hub I as taling about)and since you've put a 06 swing arm then I see no problem with the other parts but they'll have to be 06 parts.

Are you saying the sprocket hub of the 04-05 fits the beefier 06 axle?

That is correct. The "whole" axle is not beefier. The center area is exactly the same '06 vs. '04-05. It just tapers down less towards the wheel hub. An '05 brake hub will fit the axle, (along with the axle nut) but the "offset" of the rotor is different.

unfortunately I did have to break down both bikes. It started with the axle. Nobody had '06 axles out yet, so I just bought a RPM axle and tried it. RPM didn't even know if they fit yet. (in july). then we blew 3rd gear in the '06. while it was being fixed, I put the whole rear end in our '04, because the brakes worked so good. Then when the '06 got repaired, I switched it back, but I bought enough '06 parts to put in the '04.
BTW........ The '06 linkage on a 04-05 works way better than the stock 04-05 linkage.

Alright thanks for your guys help. I do have a round house swinger, so just get the hub and brake set up, and make a new caliper plate?

I have an o4' YFZ! I got an 06' swinger, rear disc, caliper and the hub for the disc. I have an 04' axle with the o4' sprocket hub. Am I going to need the 06' sprocket hub? Thanks

The '04 sprocket hub will work on the '06. That's what I have on mine.

Can I inset a silly ? here since I know you guys LOL ;):)

On an 04' the chain roller??????? Put one on Fri. morning, fromt he truck to the track it was TOAST????? I know it's probably from being lowered but what can you buy/do to fix that problem?? Thanks :D

install a roller relocator bracket.
