What is the difference in an '86 stator and an '89 stator? My dealer couldn't get me an '86 wire harness, so I bought an '89 and now I need a new stator. Do I get an '86 or '89? I asked rick stator and all he told me is that they are different. Can anyone help me out?

Which plugs the two smaller ones or the big one?

I don't know, but I know the only difference is the plugs on the wiring harness and stator, other than that they are the same.

The 85-88 stators are the same. The 89 stator has a different connector that connects it to the wire harness. Other than that it is the same as the 85-88 stators. What would have been best for you was to get an 87 or 88 wire harness. They also have keyswitch connections which the 86s don't. An 87 or 88 wire harness would have plugged directly to your CDI, Coil, and stator.
