hey there - so i'm wonderin' if anyone out there knows of any downfalls to a 450 dirtbike motor in a 400ex or 450r frame?? It'll be for racing mx and worcs series races and rec. riding also - (of course i'm planning on ridin' before buyin' - like how does the power compare - I know alot of guys use to do it on alot of bikes - but now with the 450r available - is one alot better - or worse - than the other - - - - - i'm just steppin up from my built 400ex and startin' to shop a little for next season - thanks for any input - - -

The hybrid crf450 is by far better in power than the trx450. For MX I would definetly go with the hybrid if thats most of your riding. If you don't race hardcore then I would suggest the TRX450 as its more of an all around machine but can be tuned for specific applications. It all comes down to how much you are willing to spend, if you have alot of mods to your 400 such as suspension and all that you'd be better off having your frame converted for the crf450 engine and using your 400 components and buying the radiator and custom pipe etc, than to deck out a factory trx. I am also am coming from a 400ex, but have been around crf450 hybrids and ridden a few on the track and then rode a nice trx after, and the stock crf450 engine is way better than a modified trx450 engine. If you have any questions please feel free to ask me as I am doing one right now. Hope that helps.

I'd go with the hyrbrid, however a trx is easier to start, but the handling will be better with the hybrid as it uses a trx250r style frame and they use moslty 250r components also. alot of guys like the smaller 250r rear rotor.
