i'm done with pics except this one. we had a good time despite the wide open conditons, but we did find some tight stuff at the end of the day and it clamed my wrist and mikes tie rod. here's what it looked like after he straighted it out with a tree limb.. one of the worst bent tie rods i've seen !!

We'll I went to Brown MTN. today in Burke County all by my lonesome:( ....I usually try to go atleast twice a year,even though I usually leave a cussin:tired: and swear i'll never go back...:D,but I had a good RIDE,and meet some nice people too...This will be there last weekend open until April 2nd,maybe they will cut us some new trails since the others are worn out....:ermm: .....NOT:D .....I also had to roll a kingquad off a woman and her 7 year old ,which neither were wearing a helmet.....They were not the only ones,I seen about 25 numskull's riding with no helmet's...WTF.....And people don't realize until they bust their HEAD:huh ....

i just got home from raceing, no quad raceing for me today. but i got out the nitro gas powered radio controled raceing truck and went oval raceing, of course i had issues with it, but i was fun also got me wanting to cut back on raceing the nationals and raceing these trucks and just running the mideast

We'll guy's had a awesome time today,these two day's of riding back to back has got me down,I feel like we had a race at Rockhouse:D ...I think I counted 16 quad's and one bike,and yeah Kevin you can hang,and your roost from that CRF suck's:grr:.
So what i'm getting at is you guy's Gump,Robinson,Brooks,18,19and everyone else on here needs to make trip up here this summer,guarantee you have fun.....:)

I just ordered a PRM bumper. They appear to be pretty stout, and one has a nice peak at the top for tail lights.

"Back pressure" being beneficial to performance is a common misbelief. It stems from people such as a Jeep friend of mine who put exhaust systems on vehicles that are too large for what they are doing.

For example, my Jeep friend put a 3in exhaust on his 2.5L engine in place of the factory 2in exhaust thinking the extra area would equate to more power for offroading. When it became harder to trailride the Jeep, and fuel economy diminished, he blamed the lack of "back pressure".

What actually happened is with the oversized pipes the exhaust system allowed the pressure pulses generated by the opening of the exhaust valves to dissipate more than they would with the smaller exhaust, and not generate as strong of a vacuum pulse back up the exhaust to help scavenge the cylinders (draw spent gases out) the next time the valves opened.

I'm interested in knowing if the LTE exhaust uses two pipes smaller than the head pipe, or the same size/larger. If it is the latter, I would expect lower RPM power to suffer. Even if it were the former, however, I would think that splitting the pulses would diminish the returned vacuum pulse.

I don't mean to trash LTE's product, but I'm highly skeptical of the claims, especially since I've yet to see them in a magazine article on something that didn't have the engine's compression bumped up.

I've been having a hard time finding reliable dyno charts. I can find comments both ways, (love it or hate it) but nothing reliably supporting either.

I recall a dirtwheels article, or some magazine, that actually had some pretty negative reviews of the system. But then, I think a good review in the mags only comes with a hefty "subscription".

interesting? if you look at a lte pipe you will notice it doesnt step up or put a bomb in the middle but yet gradually gets bigger from the start to the finish. similiar to the 2 stroke design. everyone might not understand his concept but then why did honda put duels on a dirtbike from the factory? 1 they are quieter 2 they pull better top end power. im just a racer not a pipe maker

You know, that really didn't help me understand a whole lot.

Fortunately I have A. Graham Bell's "Two Stroke Performance Tuning" and remembered he wrote a chapter on exhaust design thoroughly explaining the effects of said true diffuser style system. After reading I'm starting to warm up to it, though I would still like to see a few dyno charts.

you really dont get very much increase out of a 400ex pipe thats just the way the engines are designed so with out going into the engine i would just get a cheap slip on hmf are loud i like duncan pipes but they are expensive i would get maybe a fmf slip on they make good stuff thats not as loud and expensive

jenna.. me and jeff just put a hmf slip on and k&n air filter on my son derricks 400 then rejettted it and it made a nice improvement on it. later we will do the cam and piston. but this is a good starting point. i also get good deals on hmf through johnny gallager jr "johnny g"

here's the deal. I do like the hmf black power coated pipe. The graphics that I was looking at have the carbon fiber look in the flames and I thought that the Bill Balance pipe would compliment the flames. I don't know a lot about duncan pipes. I'm sure the guy that works on my 4w will do a rejet when he puts the pipe on. Bill Balance pipe is a little pricey. I know for sure I want a loud pipe:D Send me a PM of those prices!

Guys I had a blast today, Kevin, Dale, and Yelton thanks for showing JR and I around up there, That was some fun riding. Almost wants me to get back on a sport, but I won't be able to haul enough beer, I guess I'll stick with the Prairie.
That mine was the shiznit, the falls weren't to shabby either, I can't wait to hit some of those other places you guys were talking about. Kevin get some damn disc brakes on the front of that ruby, and Yelton stay outta my tailpipe.
