I have two of them and they are a good mod for anyone needing additional fuel mileage. Take a look at any cross country race and you'll see that probably over 75% of the 400EX riders are using the IMS tank.

I bought mine directly from IMS with the standard screw top for around $275. The only downside to them is that they take up more room and can make it difficult to get hand guards on your bars - nothing you can't usually work around though.

To my knowledge IMS is the only manufacturer currently producing an oversized gas tank for the 400EX.

i dont have one but i have a rockey mountian book in my lap now and i have it turned to the IMS tanks page. the 300EX tank is 3.2 gal. and it is $199.99(why dont they just put $200.00?) it comes in red or black. they come with the standard cap and if you order it from IMS you can get it with the dry break system(think that is what it is called) and it would probibly be cheeper to. my 2 cents...

i didnt know rockymountain had them i think i am gonna get one in black. do you think the wieght will even out with one more gallon and a plastic tank instead of steel

i dont think it will even out much i think it will be still a little on the hevier side because you have to remember you are making it lighter by taking away the steel but you have to remember you are adding enough plastic for that extra gal. of gas and you are adding a whole nother gal to the total. so no i dont think that it will even out. i still think that it is a good investment for you if you ride all day. once agn my 2 cents...

You must be superman or something, because if your worried about taking the 2 minutes to refill your quad, that you are willing to spend $200 on an oversized gas can, your nuts. I am sure you stop for lunch, or take a break once in awhile, just bring a can of gas with you and fill up then.

Also, you worried about the weight of another gallon of gas. Are you racing or something that your that worried about weight. Another 8 lbs is not going to slow you down that much.

Are you just trying to talk yourself into this gas tank?

i am not racing... yet, but i still want to save as much weight as possible and filling it up during riding is a pain in the @$$ so i figured if i get a 350 kit, oil cooler, titanium valve springs... and all the other goodies it would still be pretty reliable but im not sure about doing all of that yet
