i have a 2004 400ex, when i bought it, i took good care of it, but i rode it in water about a ft deep almost every weekend, and now i am out of that, and have put a lot more stuff on my quad to help it on the track, but i also want it to look good of course, but my headers are a rusty brown color. what can i do to get that off, i was thinking of sand blasting, but post any suggestions if possible. thanks

sand it down or try sand blasting or if its a stock header just buy a whole new exaust since you ride at a track

i have a hmf slip on, eventually i will invest in a hmf headpipe, but i would like to keep the stock one until the summer when i get my job back.

i think you can polish stainless, might need a special stainless steel polish or something. i would look into that before you start sanding

Correct me if I'm wrong, but for a hmf full system, you must buy the whole thing. The header won't match the slip on.

Correct. If you want a high flow header to match your hmf you'll have to get the fmf powerbomb header. But if you want to keep your stocker for a while just clean it like the guys above said. You can always polish or paint it though. Its not that hard, to polish just sand it down with a very low grit paper and work your way up with a higher grit until your satisfied. Or just give it a light sanding and spray on some high heat paint. I painted mine back in march and its still holding with no problems.

yep, wont use anything else but the grill paint. Ive never had any luck with engine paint holding up. Just a suggestion, i liked my heat shield when i painted it but it looks 10 times better after i polished it.

will the fmf power bomb header work with any slip on silencer? I have a WB r4 and am looking for a header for it.

U can get a HMF head pipe after you get the silencer but somebody told me that the geometry is all messed up and that you will have to send it in about a thousand times b4 you get one that will fit rite.....:ermm:

you can convert ur hmf slip-on to a full system just send them the pipe and they change it over for you and send it back can't remeber price though

after buying the head pipe, shipping it to them, paying to be fitted to your slip-on, and shipping it back to you, you might as well sell your slip on and buy a full system. cheaper and less headache

i sandblasted, primered and painted my headers black with grill paint, and i like it, it turned out good but it seems a little too shiny. also, i did it in my shed hanging from string, and it was cold, i went out there this morning and my finger prints slightly showed on the paint so i am guessing it did not fully dry. also i sanded my heat shield for an hout and a half, it looks really good, but i need to go over it a little more

Make sure to run your quad for a while to get the paint really hot so it bakes on. The paints going to smoke a little on the pipe but its ok just keep riding it. I waited for it to stop smoking before i put it away just to make sure it would stick.
