I did a few searches on this subject but I need to know if a 88-89 style motor will bolt up in my 86 frame with a 86 swingarm without any mods? I got a screwed up project going on now and thinking of buying a complete engine off ebay now. Thanks all

How about the electrical also will 86 cdi work with the 88-89 stator and electrics?

All of your proposed mods will work. 85-89 R motors will drop right in. The electronics changed between years, but will be functional.
