well i decided to get a new cam for my bike to give it a little extra power, i am pretty sure i want a hotcams. ill be racing harescrambles next year if that helps with the decision. before i just go out and blow my money theres a few things i want to know first..

are all hotcams just 'drop in' cams?

should i get the hot cams stage 1 or 2?

is there any rejetting involved with a new cam?

are the powergains noticable?

Yes

stage 1 for hairscrambles. Does hotcams even offer the different stages for the Z's?

Yes anytime you change airflow, jetting must be changed.

Hell YES

is there a reason for the stage 1 over the stage 2? and yes hot cams offers both stages 1 and 2 for the z400.

edit: did a little research and im gona go with the stage 1;)

Just stage 1's for the 400ex, they seem to be the only ones that tick loud. I had a stage 1 in my 400 and it was quite loud. You can quiet it up some by adjusting the valves tighter, but then your going against what hotcams recommends for valve clearances.

Nice choice btw with the stage 1, should give some monster mid. You'll like it!
