is a valve adjusting a hard maintance thing or would it be better to take to like a local shop and have it done?? is it expensive?? and also how do u know if a 400ex needs it?? mine is ticking very loudly
Valve adjustments are very easy. Grab a manual and have at it. It takes longer to remove the gas tank than to adjust the valves.

they make a speical tool to do adjustment not sure were you can get it
There's not a special tool needed. Once the covers are off and the engine is at TDC, a 10mm wrench, flat head screw driver, and feeler gauges are the only tools needed.

didnt say you needed it i was just saying they make a speical tool for it ;)
but whats the flat head for? i use a feeler gauge 10mm wrench and a needle nose

What's the needle nose for?
The flathead screw driver is used for the actual adjustment.
you need allen wrneches to get the 2 covers off 2...i think one is a 5 mm and the other is a 10 mm or 8 mm not sure which...
this is what i used to do it the first time..pretty simple really...

i have a 300ex is that different from adjusting the 400ex valves?
i dont really know how to explain what i use the needle nose for lol but it holds a square screw from turning while your tighting the 10 mm wrench

check the articles tech section on this site & follow it 100% I was unsure of that job myself it was no problem & when you know how youll never worry about doin it again or have to pay & wait for it.
