400ex problem

i jut instaled a hotcams stage 2 and a white brothers cdi box into my 400ex and i broke it in properly. After break in it was fast as hell but then the next day i was riding it and the quad wouldnt rev fast. It still revs but i can hold it to the floor for 30seconds and it wont hit 9000 RPM? Any ideas

put your stock cdi back on and see what happens.

did you rejet yet, you can get away with not doing it after a pipe but jetting is neccesary after a cam to let the engine even run... at all

yea i put in a 160 main jet.

what about the pilot and the needle adjustment, after you bump those up and get it runing you'll also need to play with the fuel screw to get it just right, but untill it running again, do what honda rider said and put the stock cdi back on just to remove one of the variables

why would jetting effect anything? I installed my stage II and my jetting wasn't effected....I think its in the rev box its self.

well i cant say anything about the stage 2 in a 400ex specifically, but everytime i have changed cams in any of my bikes it would either barely start or not run at all un till i fixed the jetting:ermm:

its not the cdi.

I guess check your jetting. I had a mj fall out on me once....caused it to run like ****. Go over all of your jets and make sure they arn't cloged or have fallen out.

we fixed it today, we yanked out the carb and the two screws that hold the needle in vibrated loose so the throttle wasnt connected to anything!!! all good now its running well and its fast as hell.
