Ok i have had my ps2 since the first day they came out, getting old but still works, WORKED, fine. About a week ago my friend was over playing a game and when he got done playing, he opened up the drive/tray and took out the game. He then shut off the ps2 and shoved in the tray. Now it makes a rubbing noice when i open and close it and none of my games will read on it. WHAT THE H*LL HAPPENED? can i fix it or am i screwed? I thank anyone that knows something that can help.

u might have to adjust the laser. take the bottom part off and then take off the metal piece that says Do Not Touch Laser. then turn the white knob a lil bit then try it. If i t doesnt work adjust it again and try it.

same exact thing happened to me.

never got it fixed myself though, luckily it was under warranty. I sent it back to the motherland (japan I assume) and they got er all fixed up. They said i sucked up some of those chrome streamer deals my mom has an obsession of covering the christman tree in. Try a vacuum cleaner to the fan on back and use a laser cleaner. If that dont fix it shoot it with a gun.

go buy a new one, and stick your old one in the box and take it back and say its broke and get your money back.

you get a free brand new ps2;)

the first PS2's had a big problem with goin bad when they came out, you probably lucky it lasted this long.

You could tell your buddy that shoved the tray in, that he owes you a PS2

Just call sony and tell them you went to play a game and disc read error came on the screen. That what I have done with 2 of mine that werent even under warrenty and they fixed em. All i had to pay was 7 or 8 dollar shipping charge.

yea mine is doing the same thing. when i put a game in, it makes this scratching noise. ps2 is a piece of crap. go stand it up broadside in a field and shoot it with a .380 rifle. it should do some damage.
