is it ok to take off the choke? I heard that is your take it off you get alot more airflow and power. What kind of hp gains would i get? also does anyone know how to take it off? is it easy?

I never need to use it so theres no point in having it IMO.

MAYBE a .5 horse power gain, not much. But the throttle response gain is quite nice. Also to get the full effects of this you must re-jet.

but what do you do in the cold? lol. I know that I would never take my choke off. Then i would kill the battery trying to start it. It would be different if I had pull or kick start.

My brother took it off on his 400, it added some power, but not very noticable. He's putting it back on though because he can't start it when it's below 40 degress.:ermm: The choke on the 250 doesn't even block that much airflow, it's very small. I would just keep it on.

If you have it jetted it right it should be no problem starting it. It helps to turn your idel you tho.

I removed the choke from my carb then rejetted it. I still have never had a problem with getting it started. It fired up and ran fine for me the other day, without even being warmed up. And if I remember right, it was about 16 degrees outside.

One thing you should do if you do this mod, or any other mods really, is change your pilot jet. It makes a big difference during starting and off idle.

I live in a small town called Greensburg.

As far as the jets, run a 42 pilot.

Here's how I have my carb set for right now.
42 pilot, 138 Keihin main, stock needle w/ clip moved down one notch, 4 turns out on the airscrew.
