He might have only done the main jet. With the chock removed, the pilot jet needs to be increased to a 42 or 45. Also, when it gets cold you need to put the stock CDI unit on if you have an aftermarket one. Most of the aftermarket ones are make for the 400xr bikes that are kickestarters. When you kick, the flywheel spins more and take less spark. With the electric starter(400ex) the flywheel needs to spin more.

Thats a good point man ill look into it. if its not a 42 or 45 pilot jet will i have to change back to what i have in there now or does the 42 work fine when its warm.

also i still have the stock cdi unit in it with electric start.
thanks

I have found that giving it three pumps of the throttle before you hit the start button will normally get it going right away. It may stall out after a sec or two but give it 3 pumps again and youll get her goin. Or at least this has worked for me.

Well you dont live far from me so I may have problems as well when the weather gets much colder. If I find that its a problem ill just put it back on. I was sssured that going up on the slow jet would fix the problem but I dont yet cuz this will be my first winter with the 400.
