Looks like a Stealth Raptor, unfortunately heavier :(

I'm not bashing the bike but does the anti-freeze reservoir look like it's saying "Rocks from roost, please break me!" I can't really see because it's shaded but the reservoir looks like it's out there low and in the front.

its about time they made a decent quad. but honda is sure to have something new coming out with in 2 years.

if i was honda i wouldnt worry to much. honda will alwasy be on top simply because all the other quads suck and cant hang with the big dog(honda) its just a matter of time.

it looks good but,Polaris cant build a quad that dont break all the time.Thats why i have a 400ex now.The ol scrammy was a p.o.s.! just like the rest of the polaris's line.

Yeah n/k. Its just there. One rock = big hole in reservoir. I think Id be puttin some guards on there. Heres a pic from a post bout this quad a week or so ago off www.predator500.com (I think)

415 lbs, 500cc. It should hold its own. I seen somewhere that Polaris is claiming 50+ hp out of the power plant. If thats the case, thats more than my DS and weighs 100 lbs less!!! :huh

I talked to one of my buddies that went to Black River Falls Wi over the weekend. There was two Predator 500's there! The guys that were riding them were Yamaha test riders. They were allowing people to look at them, take pics and sit on them. According to my friend the motor looked alot like yamaha motor, but they would not say for sure and the name plate was filed off the side case of the motor. All they would say is a major manufactor was building them.
The one rider said that he was more a bike rider and this thing handled better than anyother quad out there. He claims he was hitting 70+ foot jumps with easy! The reason they said it handles so well is the way the front end is done. It has 2 sets of tie rods to elimate the bump steer. I think my friend took a pic of it so when he gets them back I will post it.
The way they talked, this is no trail machine. It was desinged to be on either a track (MX or XC) or in the dunes. It is supose to be well balanced also. They can hammer on the throttle and it will not wheelie, or at least easily. It puts the power to the ground.
It is suppose to be in the ATV magizines for the august editions, so we should see something next month.

Dude! I think your friend is on to something! That head really looks A LOT like a classic Yamaha design. I thought that motor looked familiar, but I couldn't put my finger on it until I read your post. See the pic below of the 1982 Yamaha Vision 550 street bike head and the insert of the Predator motor.

What do you guys think?

sort of looks like a 426 motor to me... hmmm... i don't think its polaris bc they never made a manual clutch b4 but who knows...

I wouldn't be surprised if somone else manufactured the motor also and I really wanna ride one of these things and its cool to not see people copying other machines and instead trying to come up with new designs and whatnot.

I did a little more research, and Suzuki and Kawi both have similar designs to that head. My buddy that is a two wheel head, mentioned this .... "Markus! Como esta, amigo? Man, that sure looks like a copy of my YZF426 Yamaha race engine! Sounds like Yammy bumped up the CC's a tad too, eh? FYI, the 426 is an incredibly fast engine - donno how they got so much power out of it, in fact. If they made it bigger? Oh my God....

So, who the heck knows, but is does NOT look like a polaris design motor to me at all, but I know it will probably have the Polaris name on it.

I can't remember were I read it but it was an article on the new polaris that was in the making and it mentioned they went somewere and delt with another company regarding the motor,,I don't believe they designed it as you can see,,it does look alot like the DRZ400 motors and yamahamer dirtbike motors...I guess only time will tell.....I think they look pretty cool..

I does look a lot somebody else's motor. I wish it was something that had already been produced, but its not. I've been looking at every motor from every manufacturer, and I dont see any high performance 4 stroke 500 from anybody. So, it must be new. Whose it is, may come down to logic. The problem is that my logical brain cant figure it out. Oh well! :confused:

Yes, that site has been on the net for a while now. It was created by Polaris (we think) because they got the trade mark for Predador approved by the US Gov. See below ....

Polaris doesn't make their engines. Fuji heavy industries makes them(and Subaru engines) but Polaris might try and make a high-performance machine. I don't think it is a Yamahaha because its heavier than the Raptor, I think it might be a Bombardier cuz of the seat, weight and their have been some rumors about more quads from them. just my .02 cents

After talking with a lot of folks, we are at the conjecture that its probably a new motor made by Polaris's manufacturer or possibly a Kawasaki motor. Some have even speculated that it could be a Bombardier motor. But, Im inclined to think that is a new Polaris motor made by ones of its regular manufacturing companies in Japan, like where all the other Polaris motors come from.

eh, its a Polar ***** so it doesnt matter. They couldnt make a manual shift motor anyways. I wouldn't be amazed if it is just a ghost story and we will never see it, not by Polaris anyways. Just look how polaris comparies their quads to others. Its like they have a life time warrenty on their belts, well who the H3ll wants a belt driven quad, not me thats for sure. I bet its not really Polaris, the trade mark name doesnt matter, look at the LT 250R and the TRX 250R... well I really dont care about Polaris, they cant build anything properly as far as I have fixed them. (Grumble) I changed the oil on my friends Trail blazer and they made that the dumbest thing ever. Well I am done haseling Polaris, so long as no one hasels me about them I dont care, they can do what ever they like as long as I am buying Honda!!!:D

it is polaris. go under there site and look at the pop up closely dont close it has to load. it says it is released aug 5 and on the predator site it says it is "unleashed" aug 5. on the polaris site it is called the msx i think. and the headlights shot looks the same as the predators and in the new dirtwheels it pays the predator is mad by polaris . it also has noe reverse by the way

Yes, the quad is Polaris - There is no doubt about it now or for the last 6 weeks. The question is... "Who Makes The Motor". Probably the same folks that make the other Polaris motors in my humble opinion. But I will say again, the quad IS A POLARIS!!!!

Thats a polaris. See the goofy front hub caps? They look like polaris's front hub designs. Also, polaris likes the Fox shocks, guess what, the predator's got them.Sounds alittle fishy that they had yamaha people testing out another companies quad?That jsut doesnt make any sense. Or, it could be a yz426 motor, bored to a 500 ??:confused: Sounds weird.....
