i was looking on google and i came across this site http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.yip.org/~erhard/images/trash%2520in%2520the%2520woods%2520-%2520from%2520snow%2520mobilers.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.interlog.com/~erhard/atvs_and_their_impact_on_canoein.htm&h=512&w=768&sz=221&tbnid=8r6AGEAfepAJ:&tbnh=94&tbnw=141&hl=en&start=13&prev=/images%3Fq%3Datvs%2Bin%2Bsnow%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3D en%26lr%3D i was bored so i decided to read it and the whole thing just made me laugh. that guy must have put so much work into makeing that site it wasnt worth it. he talks about how its bad for canoeing? canoeing is in the water, and atv are on land? on the bottom of the page, it say 'atv manufactures have to stop making such destructive machines.. take a look at the article and see what you think..

3. The ATV industry has to be pressured to manufacture less damaging machines.

OMG I don't believe this. Look at the destruction that takes place from the logging industry. The amount of land that people ride on is sooooooo small. If they were truly concerned about the environment they would not be looking at the damage from ATVs.

LMFAO!

even though they have small engines, many still use 2-cycle engines, have no effective pollution controls and release significantly more pollution per mile travelled than your family car. Add to that the high torque that the engine/transmission generates, and you will realize that this thing can chew up the ground really well.

Damn you learn something new everyday. LOL don't these retards relize what happens. Also it's going to happen sometime we just speed up the process.

I once read an article on a bike forum or website regarding two-stroke pollution. I'm gonna have to try to find it, I think it was actually put out by one of these environmentalist hippie groups, not intended for the general public to see. It stated that one freighter that sails from China to San Francisco, or one of those ports on the west coast, releases more pollution on that one trip than all the two-strokes (mowers, chain saws, dirt bikes, atv's, etc) ever produced.... since their creation! And yet these groups make no effort what so ever to get the ship builders or operators to clean them up.

yup makes alot of sense...especially when they drive off with their 10mpg SUV's

one question....how the livin hell does an atv affect a canoe. :huh :huh last i checked, canoe's belonged in water, and .......

i know, we should ban canoeing because of all the tree's being cut down to make these canoes.....their just mad cuz their too girly to get alittle muddy ridin an atv

family car vs. atv 2 stroke pollution. let's see...there are what about 70million cars in America? how many 2 stroke atv's? 15,000 tops? yeah that makes a lot of sense. this guy needs to bend over and take some roost in the arse!

I dont get it...if the grass is taken off the soil from my YFZ tires, will this disrupt the ecosystem in some way that will cause life as we know it to cease to be? Am I missing the connection?

"This results in severe erosion which over time changes the land drastically. For the canoeist, there is risk of injury from falls when the heavy gear is carried across such portages."

Think about the poor canoeist dammit, trying to walk down the ravine that used to be his trail.

And while we're on the subject, enough of all this damn camping already. Who gave you the right to sleep in the woods??

"Some ATV folks consider it their right to establish a camp in the woods"
