not much more power but some, and count on spending $400 on that stuff, you will be faster with a set of shocks

IMO--Just get the K&N and the E-Series, go to your local Honda dealer and buy individual jets, thus saving you $40-50.

The setup you're describing will cost well under $400 and you'll notice a nice power increase. Well worth the money.

Good Luck!!

What do you mean by "hard hitting power"? If you are trying to make it like a Banshee, it can't be done. Or at least for less than $750. For big power increase get a 440 kit / cam. I did my motor for about $800, not counting the carb and exhaust.

I don't have the receipts in front of me, so thes prices are approximates. K&N - $35 ; E-Series - $250 ; 416 kit (JE 10.8:1 piston/XR400 cam/gaskets) - $275 ; cost for boring/honing - $65. A few DIY hours for breaking down and reassembling top end. The first time I took mine out after the kit, it did just what you said, lifted the front end through the first three gears. There is a noticeable seat of the pants power increase, and I can't wait to hit the trails with it.

Have you tried a 14t front sprocket? That will greatly improve your bottom end. Then again it will slow your top end speed down.

go with a nitrous kit it think that would full fill your hard hitting power craze actually you should try the JE 416 10:8:1 piston and XR400 cam just like rytm1 said i am currantly awaiting my 400 to have that done along with some upgraded valve train and other work i also have the WB e series pipe maybe stroke it also

10:8:1 is whimpy (well better than stock) and same with the xr 400 cam,

i would go to a wb race track cam or web cam, it will give a more noticeable power increase than a xr cam, a lot of people on here have done it and say it really pulls...
with the comp. i would stay between 10:8:1 to about 13:8:1 (or some where around that) with the 416 kit, also you will need new vavle springs, and harder rockers, and i don't know how much that will cost but i doubt not much more than what 99_400ex said
also the pipe and filter and jets really woke up the bike for the price i paid, i can pull wheelies into 4th with the set up below, that is with put poping the clutch, just pull on the bars and give her gas...
1st it will come up no problems same with 2nd after that you will have to put effort into it ..

u dont need hardened rockers or stiffer springs with the WB track cam. at least thats what the instructions that came with the cam said. but i would definitely go with something more than the xr cam. i have the JE 10.8:1 416 piston and the WB track cam and it has a little hit in the power compared to stock. id say go that piston cam setup, which costed me around 300, and a filter and pipe. then jet it up correctly and i dont think u will be too disappointed

i just did those mods to mine (WB E-series, K&N and Outerwear, no airbox lid, and jet) and have noticed a nice difference in power, i just changed the main jet to a 170 yesterday and it scared the piss outta me the first time i took it through 2nd, 3rd and 4th,,,later

I have or should I say had that same cam, before it went out. I do believe it recommended the spring kit, and I highly recommend the hardened rockers. Because they WILL GO OUT IN TIME. It is worth the extra money now instead of the down time later.

I dont understand what phatswinn is saying about the shocks.Shocks dont help performance wise. For the $$ i would buy the pipe and seperate jet from your local dealer.

it is true about the shocks, well worth the money...
you are able to go around the track a lot faster becasue the shocks absorb all the bumps and jumps allowing to gain more experince and become a lot faster, becasue you are able to handle the track instead of being tossed around....
other words do the pipe and jets gives ya some more ponies..
