Why would I need to lock it? The only thing locking it does is prevent people from replying, so the thread drops off and dies. If you guys just stop replying, it will do the exact same thing.

Dude I still want one. I might just keep my EX so I can do this mod in a year or so. $5000 isn't that much for a hooked up Quad.

its not that "hooked up" honestly.
its a gusseted 400ex frame and a cr250 mtoor and custom fmf pipe.

I know. But the motor mods are done. All you have to do is add the suspension goodies. The bad thing is where are you going to test ride this thing before you sink all that money in to it

personally, I'd go w/ a 400ex, a cr250 or a real 250r

put it this way, the 400ex frame is made out of MILD STEEL. the older 250R frame is STRONGER then the new style 400ex frame. Yes its gusseted for strength, but because its made out of MILD steel the welding makes the frame even more birttle and weak at the welding points. If the metal was of a better gauge and quality it would be great with gusseting. I give the 400ex/cr250 frame a year to last and then its crack city. especially because of the non counterbalanced motor and brittle gusseted frame.

the cr250 based quad is a joke, and its only out because honda had a surplus of 400ex frames and sold them to service honda dirt cheap....

if you want a honda 2 stroke quad get a R, case closed.

exactly!
A few years ago,a friend built a CR 250 motored quad (same year motor as Services' bike was used). That bike was pretty fun to ride, even with the light switch power. Was the project worth it? IMO,no,especially at the time when the powervalve cylinders were available.

yeah for 5000 you can gusset and pc a 250r frame and make it awesome or you can get a ex frame and a 250r dirt bike motor and then mess with fixin that thing up. 250r's the way to go dude.
