Best bet would to be call the engine builders. (sparks, fst, etc..) They can hook you up with what you need. They sell parts too.

FYI: Just on the off chance that you didn't already know, 12.5:1 compression would require race fuel in a 300ex.

Yea, I know about the race fuel, I usally go with a 60/40 mix with 110 and 93. I really dont trust sparks from what I have heard from several people.

Then talk to FST, C&D, etc.. there's lots of builders out there that can do 300ex's.

Curtis Sparks was just named ATVA Engine Builder of the Year. What have you heard to make you not trust him?

I was thinking the same thing.. :)

He's probably actually thinking of Mickey Dunlap and Four Stroke Tech. And, those problems have nothing to do with the engines. His gruff personality just rubs a lot of people the wrong way. ;) I personally got along with him great.

Not going to mention any names but I know of many people waiting serveral months just for parts. One in particular missed 2 or 3 races due to them not sending out his engine which they were supposed to assemble sent it in parts. I think he waited 2-3 months. Not exactly sure

Now, that I HAVE heard. But a long wait doesn't necessarily mean poor product. In fact, it often means just the opposite.

However, I doubt parts would take very long. They are usually in stock. It's the service that takes a long time. Curtis Sparks is a top-notch engine builder, and as such, he is in high demand. If you want his services, you need to wait in line. :ermm:

or find another shop...theres a gang of builders who know how to build a good reliable motor.they arent exactly high tech.so if its sparks or duncan racing if you arent running up front at the local level,it doesnt matter who did it if your a scrub:D put your money into something that will give you a return such as bonds ,stocks or a PS3 when it comes out:)

No, I think it jumped time. I had the throttle set to about 1/4 give or take some, to let the battery charge up. I heard a loud ticking noise (over my HMF pipe) and before I could shut it off it locked up. :(

Yep that was definatly the cam being off time. Snapped them babys clean in half.

I cna see a slow turn around on porting jobs etc. He has a LOT of customers. He could farm the work out... but then it wouldn't be a Sparks motor.

I took about 5 weeks for my motor to work it's way through FST 5 years ago, before the ATV market exploded. I could only imagine the work these guys have coming through the system these days.
