my lil bro has a stock 05 300ex, he wants to kno if cutting the pipe and takeing the spark arresterout is going to hurt the engine...will it make a good cheap improvement?

i have heard that if you take the baffles out all that it does is make more noise. IMO it he isnt racing or hasnt out grown the power yet, just leave it alone.

you dont get power from takin the baffle out. you get loss of power and a gay loder noise.

definatly outgrown the power, he wants more and do u kno if shortening/cutting the pipe will add power or just noise.

its not going to sound good at all. You can do it though if you want, but just check the jetting after your done so its not running lean and damages the piston. He'll be much happier with a slip on thoguh.

It's just going to add noise.

If you want more power, you need to buy an aftermarket pipe that is tuned for higher performance. The header on the 300ex is the main restriction.

Full pipe, Filter, rejet.
After that look at a Cam and 400ex carb.

i recommend a Supertrapp IDS-2 pipe. I have one and I am doing extreamly good in racing. Taking a second place on a quad with only a pipe filter and jet kit. It really woke my quad up. Plus its got a nice sound to it. But dont get a slip on. The header on the 300ex is extreamly small.
