Has anyone with 400ex ran Works Shocks and the 450r shocks, which ones ride better? I like my Works in the whoops and jumps but the ride is still rough just riding around.

i would have to say 400ex works because they are actualkly made for your bike and are valved correctly and everything.

it is 110 at the sweet spot, and 130 if you overshot it, i did a little of both ;)

I agree 100%

How could shocks from another quad work better than shocks built to the specs for that machine???

do you put on your shoes before your socks????

I agree with you Rico, but I am still wanting an opinion from someone that has tried both on the 400ex. Thanks for the responses guys.

Jump size means very little to experienced jumpers...its the type of jump. Your jump..which is like a nice, freestyle/dirt jump is sick...but prolly wasnt harsh or technical. Just pin it and pray :). I was running stock 450r shocks...and hit 100ft tripples and all of that without bottoming..then on another section a 60 foot tripple bottoms them everytime. So people who brag about size are cool..and have skills...but dont impress me. Air time and heighth and technicality impress me. Like a natural terrain double that has a uphill lip and a crooked landing.(bent my axle on it..lol..and blew two shocks out).

As for your shock question.....im not shure if it will mount. Just call elka or some shock company...and as the shock eye to eye lengths...and find out if a 400ex shock is a "fork" lower mount. Hope this helps.

a fun jump....anyone care to guess the size??

wasnt tryin to impress anyone bud :o i didnt even post a picture :chinese: stock 450r shocks can hold up good to large jumps, i said it, you said it, we agree, lets move on ;)

Thats fine guys, but how do the 450r shocks handle in the trails and in the dunes compared to the Works Shocks?

Agreed.....

As for trails and duning.....whats your skill level/speed. Are you a 4th gear bomb the whoops or spry weekend warrior type. The stock shocks can be adjusted to handle pretty darn good in whoops and bumpy trails. I had my rear shock set to low clicks out on the adjsuters.....like 5 turns out..and threaded preload almsot all the way soft..and duning and trails were pretty good for me....i needed/wanted more...but they work greta i think. The adjsutments make huge differences...soo make setting changes then ride it..and go according to that until you find a good setting. Start with compression 4 turns out...and rebound 12 out....and see how you like that. Its been awhile since ive used/messed with the stockers...soo forgive me if i messed some info up...but im rpetty shure im remembering right.
Works make only a difference in little/variating bumps...but overall the stockers can be made to almsot be as good as works. If your not a pro racer...then get a simple spring conversion and revalve..and youll be super happy and satisfied with the results.

^^^^
i was refferring to stock 450r shocks......in case i confused yah. Depending on funds, i may have a whole set of 450r shocks for sale if someone wanted them..like you. It all depends if i get elka shocks due to my new sponsorship from them. So if your still looking for 450r shocks or want them......id sell yah my set for a good price....otherwise they'll jsut sit around and collect dust.

and a further note......if your gonna buy aftermarket.....go the extra mile. Ive ridden TCS and own one TCS equipped quad...and theyre excellent suspension at almsot works price....but way better.
