Do these things even work? I see them all over the net. Saying "download this program and your internet will be 10x faster" or somthing like that. IS there even a program that makes your internet faster, and if so how does it work? Or are they are just crocks of ****....??

thats a big no on that one. most of the time the program it makes u download is ridden with spyware, and malware and adware.

the faster your internet is the more of a chance your going to get viruses and spyware/malware and all of that nasty crap if your going to get a faster internet connection i would keep your antivirus spyware cleaning programs updated all the time

but anywho there is no such thing

ok so duh their cable is going to be faster than dial-up, thats common sense. I am asking about these programs you download to make your net faster. As I thought they are all just junk... I had DSL, so I don't need comcast highspeed...

alot of these programs change the way images are displayed and it makes the page appear faster....usually because it simply reduces teh image quality. Soem of them also store data on yoru hard drive so it is only faster fi you go back to the same site. this will not increase your download speed.

The acclerators also partially down load the linked pages so that they are loading while you are looking at the main page. No program can increase your internet speed. Only hardware (modems/ISP) can change your speed.

Speed itself is not really what does this. The fact that your internet connection is on 24/7 or the entire time your PC is turned on is the biggest reason.
