I am considering a new 250EX for my son. Does anyone here have the new sport clutch model and if so how does it function exactly? Also how do you owners like the new model?

I don't know anyone who has one, but the sport clutch or w/e its called works like a Recluse auto clutch. The quad still is an auto clutch, and you can shift without using the clutch ect.. like like a normal auto clutch. But the option of using the clutch is available, which will prevent stalling, so that the kid can learn to use a clutch without stalling out. Personally I would get him a stock 300, so he can learn to use a real clutch.

They are deffinatly reliable. Could probably run under water:p It will climb any hill (as long as you are in a low enough gear) I like it, but I have outgrown it. I wish I had a 300ex instead. But sooner or later I will have a 400:cool:

He can already use a clutch. He has an RM-65 he rides on our track. I would consider him a beginner at the use of the clutch though. The terrain we ride off the track is tight & steep in alot of places and I want a machine that will build his confidence on the trails without having to have him think about gear selection & clutch slipping. He rides my wifes KFX400 in open areas.........but not on the trails. I think the 250EX will be the best machine for him at this time. I can buy him a larger machine once he masters this one and his brothers can accept the 250EX as a hand-me-down :D

give him a blaster or 300ex and jsut put the rev limiter down untill he is used to it, then you will be much happier in the long run trust me

He will have plenty to choose from when he outgrows the 250EX. But thanks for your input.

I think he is talking about the throttle limiter screw. But since this thread wasn't asking about a comparison between the 300ex, blaster and 250ex I wasn't paying much attention.

As if I needed any input on the difference in the 3 models.

CONGRATS!! those lil' quads are bullet proof GREAT choice, I borrowed my sisters this summer to take on our annual ATV Jamboree & LOVED it on the trail, just less things to think about doing w/ the semi auto :) like you said your son won't have to be thinking about pulling in the clutch ect. on a trail!! I usually ride a 300ex on the trail, but after riding the 250 I actually thought about getting one!! BUT now we just got my son a new ride so that WON'T be happening LOL :)
