Are any year 250R's flywheels interchangable? Does the timing change if you use a different year flywheel?

85-89 flywheels are all interchangeable.
The 85-86 are the lightest, and the 88-89 have a slight timing advance (about 2 degrees) in comparison.
How to tell them apart... the 88-89 measure 21mm between the "F" and "T" marks. Earlier flywheels measure 19mm between the same marks.
Seat of the pants feel-- hardly a noticable difference to me...
Thanks xlr810. I didn't know if the timing difference would really effect the motor that much. I have a 86 bottom end. I also screwed up the stock one (didn't have a puller) but I have one NOW!!!!!!!!! So I bought a used one on ebay not sure what year it will be when I get it. Thanks again

Interesting info. I'm not doubting it's accuracy, but merely curious, where did you get this info?

Schoolin for the R experts?...
Experience and careful measurements will yield you the same conclusions. I can't remember the exact weight differences, nor have I checked an 87 flywheel-- I'm curious to know which "style" an 87 is.

actually if you find a real 85-86 flywheel out of an ATC its the lightest. then 86-87 quad flywheels which r just a tad lighter then the 88-89. and he's right about the timing thing too. but ive tried both an didnt feel a difference.
