mine gets a 2 I've blown the motor up 3 times this season alone and all of them have been below the cylinder I have had to buy 2 sets of cases in those failures. One of the times the dogs all broke off the back of 3rd gear totally destroying every thing in the bottom end. The second time the crank locked up and now the third time the crank bearings spun inside the cases ruining both case halfes. While the bottom end was appart we inspected 3rd gear and guess what the dogs were showing signs of wear again and I'm glad I saw that before putting it back together again. Unless I buy and CRF hybrid this will more than likely be the last Honda I ever own and this is coming from a former die hard honda lover. All of these problems are also not mentioning that I have replaced my frame becuase the stocker was 100% thrashed.

HONDA It's an 11. The Durability has a lot to do with the owner too. And as i have been told the 450r and all the new high rev 4 strokes need there TLC with often oil changes and things.

I 'll give my 05' a perfect 10, just change the oil and ride.

11 if u just keep simple maintence on it like changing the oil/oil filter every now and then make sure your bolts are tight air pressure i say 11

id give mine a 9, it has never giving me major problems, except for that my stock chain stretched waaaay to fast, and my steering stem bent from jumping

but thats just from me riding it hard

other than that, 4 xc races, 1 gncc, 11 hours of trails, and no problems what so ever

I think Byrd blew his 450r within four hours, but it was probably just a one in a thousand thing. Honestly, i am a Yamaha guy, but I will admit that Honda makes reliable machines.

By the way, if you want a fast machine, get you one of them YFZ 450 thingys. :D

Go ahead boys, jump on me.

Not really brave, just a heckler, lol.

By the way, THIS IF FOR THE POSTER OF THE THREAD, if you do decide to get a 450, whatever make it may be, Keep it maintained properly, as some one has already mentioned. These are high performance machines that run at high RPM's. It cannot be stressed enough how important that oil/filter change is. Those $20 bucks every few rides will save you a grand OR MORE in a rebuild. Good luck on your purchase.

I have an 04 and its been ridden pretty hard on trails and in the sand dunes. Runs good and starts on 1st or second kick. For peace of mind you can get the 4 year extended warranty for I believe about $10.00 a month if that will help make your decision easier. :p :p

1,2,3 at Baja 1000 has to say something about durability. Blowing 3 motors in 1 quad sounds like your tough on equipment back off and shift a gear while shifting use the clutch too

Don't tell me how to ride when you've never actaully seen me ride. I do use the clutch when I shift and I hardly ever hit the rev limiter. Maybe you could come over here to washington and host a riding school for me or something.

I'd be willing to bet we could all put a hurtin' on equipment we don't pay for as well. Byrd ain't paying the bill, so he'll wring it out for all it's worth to be the fastest.

Its totally in how you ride it. You can poke around in the back yard and thats your definition of riding, well you'll probably never have to tighten that chain or air up the tires. I know however the more experienced I get the more agressive I get and I just end up putting my quad through hell.

jake that is true i'm just tired of my 250 because i'm putting it to limits that it can go and those limits are limited

for the price I paid for this thing there should be no such thing as a lemon. I've never seen so many people get butt hurt about me telling the problems I've had with my bike. I do race motocross every weekend and I do ride extremely hard but this bike should be built to take it. I'm sorry if you can't accept that there is such a thing as a honda having troubles buy you asked for what people thought of theres and that's what I think of mine take it as you will. I ride harder and more often than most of you would beleive but again this quad should be able to handle it.
